Ironically, I knew a guy who's life was saved by his diabetes while we were
living in west Africa. He got a really bad case of malaria, which was
misdiagnosed by the company quack, predictably enough, and his system got
so messed up that he went into a diabetic coma... which slowed his body
down enough that they had time to med-evac him to London and deal with both
conditions. Rather OT, but that's about par for the course...
