I've given the issue some thought and I agree that the scythe would not be
nearly as effective in battle as a weapon that was made for battle, or at
the very least without some modification and some intense training in
fighting methods that could work with the weapon.

After that I think that there is also a difference here of role playing
style. Some GM's may allow the scythe and some may not. I've noticed that
quite a few of you run things based heavily in reality. If it isn't really
possible you want nothing to do with it.. Others among you run your game
more like an action movie.. where the truth is stretched a little bit to
provide a 'coolness factor'. I try to ride that line and run a game
somewhere in between.
