I've always allowed Mages and Shamans to take some liberty with their spell
descriptions to help them set the tone and style of the character.. <snip>
So I was wondering if I should give Adepts the same chance.

Although it's a very nice idea I have never incorporated it into my game.
This is due to the fact that when it comes down to it that the rules
mention nothing of the visual aspect of Adept Powers and it says that most
spell-effects caused by spells slung by Mages and/or Shamen are not
visible. It would be, in some cases, a disadvantage to force visual effects
on a player.

I agree. I would never force visual effects on a character, but I do like
to give them the option. I know that having a distinct style can be a
hinderance in the shadows, but I enjoy spicing things up a little.. It is
of course, always the players choice.
