Many of these types of devices work via radar or infrared.
If you allow an invisible character to bypass a radar-based motion
detector, you've just opened up the door to make invisible vehicles
undetectable to radar. If your position is that the Invisibility somehow
alters emissions across the entire electromagnetic spectrum, you're good
to go, but realize that that means that making an antenna invisible is
akin to jamming of infinite power.
Actually, I don't know if it's explicitly stated in SR3, but in
previous editions characters with thermographic vision could see invisible
characters, which tends to imply that Invisibility affects a limited
spectral band, which in turn implies that motion detectors would work on
an invisible character just fine.
But even if you allow the Invisibility spell to cover the entire
electromagnetic spectrum, you're still left with a hole. An "invisible"
character can still talk or be heard (hence the utility of the Silence
spell). As such, if your motion detector is pressure-activated, the air
currents caused by the character's movement will still set it off. Many
motion detectors today are pressure activated (which is why explosions set
off car alarms miles away).

I know how *I* run motion detectors and invisibility, but you'll
need to decide how the spell works in your campaign, and how any given
motion detector will operate. Then put the two pices together to
determine whether the character will be detected.
