Although it would be most likely impossible, the best way to
actually write something that involves multiple people is to have one
person do all of the actual writing. This way, the writing style remains
consistent and hopefully, it would be done by the best writer.
Unfortunately, it's kind of hard to do, but not impossible. As for
examples and fiction, I would be willing to do so, as I do have a little
bit of experience in writing (as long as they're not too long). Editing
is going to be a bitch (but I'm a masochist =)). And we must definitely
include an INDEX!!!!

And we thought that editing was going to be bad...

Yes, we need it, but it's going to be horrendously bad.

Uh oh...

(I bet it's done by the worst person.)

Actually, come to think of it, it wouldn't be bad if each chapter was
done by a different person, probably...

And, of course, skills will be done by creator, and such.

Douglas Adams (paraphrased): "The most qualified person for a position is
the least likely to be found in that position."

WHen left to an unguided vote, the masses often mill about until the most
impatient takes over. Things more often work better under a wise and
respected (or at least respected) leader, like a dictatorship. For once,
Doom and I will agree; it's the only way.

Most word processors worth the title these days have an Index
function. The only hard part is weeding through everything to make sure
that you _really_ need each and every reference to that word. (I
actually did that for an RPG some friends and I wrote...absolutely
mind-numbing work, but worth the trouble.)
