Subject: A question about Belgium

Since there is a France sourcebook out in France now (if I spoke French
I'd buy it), I'd like to ask anyone who owns it whether it mentions
Belgium or not. I need this info for the Netherlands article I'm writing,
and since the histories of the two countries are very much intertwined
(the current Belgium being known as the Southern Netherlands at various
periods in history), I had been thinking of re-uniting the two and/or
splitting up Belgium into a Dutch- and a French-speaking part.

However, before I do any of this I need to know what the France sourcebook
says about this; if it says Belgium still exists, I'll leave it in one
piece, but OTOH the Germany SB talk about the "United Netherlands" which
suggests at least the Dutch-speaking part of Belgium has been reunited
(voluntarily or otherwise :) with the Netherlands.

Also, if we have any Belgian listmembers, I'd like to hear your opinions
about this, as well as some thoughts about which modern-day people,
groups, and/or political parties would be in favor and against such a
reunion.

The France sourcebook says little about Belgium. Apparently, Belgium is
still independant but has huge economic problems.
The French-speaking part of Belgium has been independant between 2006
and 2021 but Belgium is now united again. That's all.

It's more than I knew before I started, so thanks :) I'll probably leave
Belgium alone and concentrate only on the Netherlands then.

Accutually, I'd like to know the details of these problems. Eric, does
it just say Belguim's got huge Economic problems, or does it go into
detail? If not, would it be against NERPS policy to give things like,
oh, the likely hood of getting a shadowrun there and the net profits of
a few select Belguim corps?

Well, that wouldn't go against any policies because AFAIK we don't have
any in that respect :) The way I'd like to see write-ups of countries is
in a bit the same way as FASA tends to do; they usually have hints about
how easy it is to get shadowruns there, so that would be a good thing to
include in NERPS articles as well.

If you can name a few major Belgian corps, sure :) I live 30 km away and I
can't even think of one big Belgian corporation right now. (And I mean
ones that are not owned by some other corp, so FN Herstal doesn't
count...)

I have a couple of questions about this new French sourcebook.

1) I finally was able to finish editing your version Eric. Is that still a
go? Or are there major differences between your article and the French
sourcebook?

2) Are any other countries named in the French book? Any other details that
we should know out here?

3) And finally, does the sourcebook present anything really interesting to
the non-French speaking SR players?

If I had to guess, we might be seeing an English translation of the French
sourcebook, ala the German sourcebook, eh? Maybe?

Eric, let me know if you still plan on making your France submission, and if
so, if you can take attached filed or not.

I would hope so, my group did quite a bit in Germany, then into the
Tir,... we've become "international" :-) I'd really like to see the
France book (as long as I could read it) and I can't wait for the
Cyber Pirates sourcebook.
