Okay Gurth, as promised, here's the basic pay scale for the LAPD.
First of all though, the extras.
Officers with college degrees may, depending on courses taken, may recieve a
higher salary.
Officers with the ability to write or speak a language other than English may
recieve salary premiums from 2.75% to 5.5%, depending on language and
position.
Officers may recieve tuition reimbursements from the Cal State University
system and the LA Community College district.
Plenty 'o sick days and vacation days.
A very healthy pension plan.
And of course, health and dental plans.
Now, onto the pay scale.
POLICE OFFICER I (first 18 month) $35,538-47,982
POLICE OFFICER II (automatic after 18 mo) $39,192-51,386
POLICE OFFICER III (field training officer) $41,363-54,309

POLICE DEPUTY CHIEF II $123,443-153,384
CHIEF OF POLICE $136,534-204,812
LONGEVITY BONUS (POLICE OFFICER RANK ONLY)
10 years +$115/month
15 years +$231/month

ANNUAL UNIFORM ALLOWANCE: $650
The variantions in pay per rank are due to the factors listed above, and also
speciality/department (i.e. SWAT get paid more).
That's what I've got. Should help a bunch.
