Well, the Cone of Silence can now be lifted...
I have just received confirmation that an article, mine, is
in the most recent issue of Shadowland magazine (#6, should
be available real soon at your local gaming store, if not
all ready). And why should you care?
The plan is for the NERPS list to contribute a regular
article in Shadowland for each issue. We get to mention our
list (about us, how to join, etc.). In return, we put in a
plug for Shadowland in our NERPS net.books (they are the
officially licensed fanzine for Shadowrun after all).
This is the culmination of more than just a few months work
by myself and Gurth. It should give NERPS a lot more
legitimacy, especially with the proliferation of SR related
web sites (over 90 on the web ring last count!)
The nuts&bolts of it all:
If you have a idea just _burning_ up in your head, but the
NERPS list isn't working on the same thing (i.e., we are
working on global places, but you have a couple of smokin'
new critters), then post your idea to the list as
Shadowland: My Post (with "my post" being your article
title).
These "random" ideas will sit in my mailbox for a month or
two, until such time as they need to be sent to Shadowland
for approval. Only ONE article will be posted to
Shadowland; if yours wasn't selected as a NERPS article,
feel free to submit the article on your own. DO NOT submit
something to Shadowland directly as a NERPS artice; the
publisher has been asked to consider only those submissions
from my mailbox (but not necessarily authored by me) with a
NERPS subject header as "official" NERPS list submissions.
Any private submissions will not be under the banner of
NERPS.
How will NERPS select an article? I'm not sure yet, but
this finally might be the impetus for building a web page
for myself finally (I hate ego pages). It would be similar
to what Paolo has, with people from the list sending me an
e-mail as to what they like best.
Or failing that, they will all be posted to the list at one
time and then the list can vote. We'll see.
In any case, everyone should go at _least_ take a look at
the new issue of Shadowland at your local gaming store. I
don't have their URL in front of me right now, but you can
link to their web site through FASA's site (the licensees
area).
If you have any questions regarding this, please direct them
to me.
ONE LAST THING!! Please don't forget that we are working on
a NERPS net.book; if you have a project for it, please
finish it before submitting something for Shadowland.
Thanks!!
