Nobody is writing a piece on Japan (I thought I alredy said that?) so your
friend's article is very welcome.

The only project under way is the Neo-A Guide to the World (NAGTTW), and
the following should be under construction for it:

Australia: Calvin Hsieh <u2172778@*******.acsu.unsw.edu.au>
The Jestyr <jestyr@*******.dialix.com.au>
Baltimore City: Rob Pool <rpool@********.net>
CAS: Thomas Deeny <fauxpas@******.net>
Erik Johansen <dweaver@*******.net>
Cleveland: Steven Ratkovich <chaos@*****.com>
Iceland: Olafur Gunnarsson <olafurg@******.is>
Minneapolis/St. Paul: Jens Hage <jhage@**.com>
Netherlands, possibly a part of Belgium as well: me <gurth@******.nl>
New Zealand: Andrew Norman <A.J.Norman@******.ac.nz>
Norway: Jens-Arthur Leirbakk <leirbakk@****.ntnu.no>
Oklahoma: Christopher Casey <mirage5@**.netcom.com>

And related to the above:

Ocean-going vessels: Lynn Twiss <ltwiss@********.com>
Underwater stuff: Hairy Smurf <ab130f92@*******.adelphi.edu>
Assorted other stuff: Erik jameson <Erik_Jameson@*****.com>

I might have missed someone or something, and/or made mistakes, so if I
have don't hesitate to correct me.

Snip stuff who and where

remember Dave Fasa has stated in Portfolio of a dragon that an Aquacology
hasnt been built with more than 100 people and probably none are bigger than
maybe 60-70 people.
But with the money that the Draco foundation is offering to the first to
built such an
Aquacology i think many of the companys might be working on such a project.

Thanks. I haven't gotten around to reading that yet.
Hmmm... how am I going to do this now?

How about... After reading Dunk's will several small
aqualogies get together and link up in one large aqualogy.
Everything is makeshift, there's politics abound, but it is
self sufficient. The leaders call the Draco Foundation and
collect. Then the fun begins.

Sounds cool

Or you could have the Big companys start trying to built aqualogies hitting
each other and any one else that tries. Lots of adventure possibilities:).
Oh btw the reward is in the middle millions so there is a great incentive to
do all kinds of nasty stuff to each other. And the grant calls for a self
sustaining colony
able to survive without any help from the surface.
Id say you have a few set smaller Aqualogies and a few being built to larger
specs,
As well as research into how to extract oxygen from water for air.
Growing algae for human comsumtion research into advanced submarines etc etc,
Many fields for gain and the company to get it right would stand to gain
more than just the draco reward.

I know, I haven't updated it for some time... I should put the listserv
commands into it as well, instead of majordomo's.

That's pocket money if you're working on a project as big as a
self-sustaining underwater community... Just as an example, a swimming
pool is to be built in the town I live. It'll cost about 15 million
guilders (that's some US$8.5 million) according to the contractor, but the
city council says that's too much because he'd originally quoted a price
of something like 5 million for it.

What I'm trying to say is that if a swimming pool with a roof over it
costs $8,500,000, imagine how much an underwater complex for a hundred
people costs to design and build. A few million nuyen won't make all that
much of a difference, IMHO.

This would be a better incentive to try and be the first to build one, if
you ask me.

I only mentioned it to you (addressing problem on my Email program),
but I will to Toronto, UCAS.

A registration will be appearing in the next few days, hopefully
(Gurth knows how reliable I am :) ).

I am currently working on two or three depending on how it shakes
out. One is on naval ordnance with any special rules needed. The other
is on some light and not so light patrol craft. and the last part is
the background material on corp that operates the shipyard.

Not including this was not a mistake on Gurth's part, as this is the
first time I have posted this. Of course this assumes that his job
description does not require him to be omniscient. For if that was
the case this omission would be it fact a error of the first order.

I don't think J.D. explained anything to me about omniscience when I
applied for Project Leader... As a matter of fact, all he said was "I'd
hoped you'd apply" so that seems to suggest he wasn't omniscient either
else he would have known for sure :)

Don't believe a word of it. Part of being omniscient is knowing how we
mortals react to their powers. J.D. probably did say exactly what Gurth
quoted, but he meant (and Gurth most certainly understood) was "I'm off
to the Caribean for the vacation I scheduled three years ago when the
airfare was cheap."
