have Siberia, as I'm waiting for Target: Smuggler's Havens to come out
(which is June now, according to FASA's web site).
Items in the map comes from three sources, in order of presidence:
1) Official FASA stuff.
2) This project's web site.
3) My judgement calls.
A few things to mention:
A) Iraq is as it is now. Iraq was strangely absent from the web site
section on the Middle East.
B) I left Somalia as a nation. I have an idea for Somalia that I will
detail in another post.
C) I guessed on the current borders of China. Generally, I just use the
borders of current provinces, but not always.
D) FASA has indicated that borders in most of Africa change all of the
time. To that end, most of Africa is just one huge "country". In reality,
it is thousands of constantly shifting microstates.
E) If the map contradicts the web site, it is usually because quite a bit
on info in the web site was made obsolete by Cyberpirates. The most glaring
example of this is Azania. The web site says Azania is a huge chunk of
southern Africa, everything south of the 10th parallel. Cyberpirates
indicates pretty clearly that Azania is what is now South Africa. So, I
made it just South Africa on the map. (Also, I think I figured out the
borders of the four states of Azania.)
F) The map is in PDF format. You will need to use the zoom features of
Acrobat Reader to see anything useful. Gurth, we still need to figure out
what format to use in the final.
G) Let me know of any errors you find. Also, if you are still writing and
want the map to change for some reason, let me know. I'm also still looking
at the color scheme. I want to pick colors that are disinct in color and
when printed, while still being light enough to let you read the black
text. (The source for the PDF is in Freehand with color styles, so changing
colors on the whole map takes about 10 seconds. Also, items are layered by
group, so it is trivial to, say, hide all non-capital cities and so on.)
