Hi guys.

After giving things a lot of thought, I'm thinking of retiring from the
role of "fearless leader". Mostly it's because I just don't have the time
to keep up with the lists any more due to grad school and my job (I'm
teaching sex education now as a TA, and will be teaching the same in the
local high schools come fall). Couple this with my duties in politics
(student senate, city council) and I just don't have the energy to
continue to handle the list.

In addition, and I say this with a suitable fear of being pummeled, I am
getting rather burned out on Shadowrun as a gaming system. FASA has
really taken the game in some directions that I feel are inappropriate for
a cyberpunk-genre game (which I had hoped to correct had I been hired as
the new designer). The future of the Shadowrun line doesn't seem any
brighter. Lately I've been workign in the GURPS system, because it isn't
so confining in terms of creativity issues, and the CP systems are
well-defined and internally consistent.

Don't take this as a sign, however, that I am dissatisfied with the
mailing lists or the people on them. Quite the contrary. Of all the
gaming and creative forums I have been a part of, these lists have by far
been the best. ShadowTK, which I consider to be my pride and joy and
perhaps my legacy, has produced more pages of decent quiiality storyline
than anything I've ever seen (and I have ALL of it printed out and
sitting bound on my bookshelf). NERPS, dispite a few problems, has made
great stuff, and ShadowRN never fails to impress me with good quality
discussion and original ideas.

It's just that I'm tired.

At this point, I have not decided if for sure I will retire, but there is
a strong possibility. I am posting this only because I felt it was my
duty to inform everyone of my thoughts. I expect that Doom would take
over my position.

I expect that I'll hand over the reigns sometime this summer when traffic
on the lists is much less. In the short term, assuming everything comes
together, I will handle the T-shirt sales (this would be the last shirt
with me listed as FL) providing that all of the artwork and stuff gets
worked out.

If you have any questions, concerns or comments, please let me know.
