RE> Australian sourcebook ideas (large)
To Net Enhancements for Roleplaying Shadowrun<NERPS@********.ITRIBE.NET>

Two comments.

1) Why have India or Japan have troops in Australia? I'm
not real sure it is necessary, given the Dreaming. I would
have to guess the Aborigines would have comparable power to
the American Indians. In other words, a "Great Dreaming
Dance." Have the "fuzzy-wuzzies" (as the aboriginies were
referred to by some merc in the RBB) blow up a mountain or
two, and everyone gets a little wary. That in and of itself
might be enough to make Japan, India, Indonesia, or someone
else like the Phillipines nervous enough to think twice
about invading.

2) Nothing wrong with having Australia harbor a second-tier
corp or two. And a green corp is great; we Americans often
hear about how "green" Australia and New Zealand is.

Just a few thoughts anyway.

The fuzzy-wuzzies are PNG natives; Our slang for them from WWII.... Ie,
"fuzzy-wuzzy angels"

And the Indonesians wouldn't have access to something comparitivly
powerful in the magic department?? They have their religions and cultural
traditions too.

Besides, we came to the conclusion that there wouldn't be more than 3000
Aborigines left in the dreamtime.... Unless you assume they ALL have
magical power, they can't do much about a serious Indonesian attack

Besides, the dreaming only occurs in the outback, where humanity deons't
hold sway... If it occured in the cities they'd be wastelands in short
order. Indonesia wouldn't be interested in all of Aus. Just the bits that
are inhabitable or worth money.

Besides, any war would be better as a series of border skimishes and
punitive raids, because it gives employment opportunities for shadowrunners.

It's a lie generally; Australia is one of the mining capitals of the
world, and we're into strip mining.... It'd be a nice thought to have
someone with an egological concience though, even if it is imposed upon them.

Thanks for the feedback

Will do... thankfully, my mother was into researching the dreamtime
throughout last year.... She should have a whole bunch of the stories
easily available to compile info from... trick is; She's in Canberra and
I'm in Brisbane.

It may be a while before we get around to it.

OK,

About the dreaming, I suggest you wait for the Australian part of the
NeoArch guide.

However, just to give you a rough idea, the dreaming is the native
Aborigines' stories which are used in describing their spirituality.
Aboriginal "religious thought" is past on as word of mouth and as such as
stories.

The time of the dreaming describes the Rainbow Serpent etc. which formed
Australia. It also describes the Aboriginal race's struggle to survive
etc, as well as moralistic stories for their children.

This is just a very rough estimate of the dreaming, as I said before,
wait for the sourcebook addition!

Hey, I'm writing part of the sourcebook edition (I'm a friend of Elle's)...
does that mean I still have to wait for it??

BTW... If you want info on the dreaming, I'm your man; My mother has
info, due to research efforts in that area.
