Hoi chummers... Just a few questions for ya...

Now, I wanted to get some ideas from ya'll before I get to work and see what
I have that'll need modified...

The way I see it, when Chicago fell to teh bugs, most of the major corps
(and a few of teh smaller) lost their center of power in the mid-east UCAS.
they had to go somewhere... They lost a lot of assets, but many of the
corps managed to get some of their staff, equipment, and whatnot out of the
CZ before it was sealed off... In fact, it certainly seemed taht some of
them knew what was coming.

In our game, our characters were based in Chicago, and then managed t get
out about a year after Bug City hit. We've since moved the game to
Cleveland (where we live), and have started working up stats and stuff for
the city, hence my volunteering to do it.

Now, in our game, we've moved the corps, shipping industry, and everything
to Cleveland, since it's the next largest city in the Mid West, and also has
access to the Great Lakes. This has revitalized what was a very lagging city.

I'd like to know everyone's thoughts on this, regardless if you know the
area or not... How do you feel about the Corps moving like that? Does it
make sense? What, if anything (or everything), do you think needs changed...?

Thanks aghead of time for the input...:)

Well, I'm cool. My area (Minneapolis/St. Paul) has a real sordid history
about organized crime, so I'm planning on having M/SP be a Mafia held
city after they left Chicago.

Some to Cleveland, but Milwaukee and M/Sp (though less to M/Sp) should get
some as well.

Sounds good... Maybe we can collaborate something between there and here
with the Mafia... There is a strong Italian presence here in Cleveland, in
RL, so we figured that would carry over to 2058, hence, a strong Mafia
presence... Maybe the Cleve Family and the Minn Families are working
together to keep the Yaks outta the Mid East? :)

Sounds like an excellent idea. Very plausible.

Well, the italian presence and the mafia are not directly related... but
I agree that if it isn't italian, it isn't original mafia (tm) :)

BTW, if anyone read shadows of the underworld, is the book talking about
organized crime? and how?

Well, you're right, they aren't necessarily related, but, ummm...
<cough>... I, ummm, know for a fact it does exist in cleveland... My last
name, Ratkovich, is my Step-Fathers last name... I myself am 3/4 Italian...
Ummmm, but we won't go into this any further...

I believe so, but I haven't been allowed to read it yet as my GM wants to
run some of the stuff from it... <sigh> the perils of being a player AND a
GM... I can't read the stuff I need to...:)

I believe it's just a collection of adventures, like Super Tuesday. There
was a review on ShadowGM a few months ago.

Blurb from the back of the book:-

Shadows of the Underworld is a collection of five Shadowrun adventurs
set against the chaos of the United Canadian and American States
Presidential election of 2057. The runners get entangled with
everything from political agents to fanatical cults, from a gun fight
ont he top of New York's most famous building to the secret world of
Oakland's metahuman underground.

Aside from dealing with corruption, it has nothing to do with Mafia,
Yakuza, Triads or Seoulpa. Hope that clears the picture up a bit.
Hey, am I the only one with a copy around here. :)

This is the second time I've seen you mention this ShadowGM, anymore
details on it Gurth, like an address perchance? :)

When I joined Shadowrn etc. at the beginning of the year, I was under
the impression the list had closed down. If not, can I have some
details about it - please <beg, grovel> :)

That was my review. Basically it's five runs: Excelsior and C.O.D. are
really good. Excelsior is like Die Hard in 2057, C.O.D. has the runners sit
on an art object for two days (neat plot twists). Dead Run is decent
(athough the final battle assumes that the runners won't actually attack
anything and listen to someone who has screwed them over while a battle is
raging around them). Double Dipping reads as a good run where the runners
find that a simple kidnapping job has many complications for the runners (it
also has negative karma awards meaning you can earn anywhere from -4 to 7
karma points for the adventure). Two Solitudes rated pretty low for me - a
lot of legwork trying to find a runaway, and if the runners don't get an
obscene number of successes while trying to find a certain clue, they can't
finish the run.

The only "Underworld" in SotU is the Underground or resistance in San
Francisco. SotU purports to be a book of adventures that focuses on the
effect of the presidential election on the streets. However, Two Solitudes
has nothing to do with the effects of the UCAS 2057 presidential election.
