One Question to all you who know all the sourcebooks:

How much has the climate changed since today to 205x?
From the german sourcebook I understand that the sea level has risen,
but is there any more detailed information about how high, what areas
all over the world are affected, how much climate alltogether has
changed and all this?

Where is desert, where is semidesert and all this? It might have
changed a lot, I think.

I really wish you would alter your e-mail protocols so when us unwashed
masses hit the reply button it directs to the list, not directly to you.
It's good mailing list etiquette.

Theoretically, it probably is somewhat warmer overall. But from the place
books, which is the only place it is ever mentioned, it's roughly the same
as it is now.

Weather is noted as being much stranger than people can recall, such as
hurricanes popping up when and where they shouldn't, snow in the deserts
(which I've seen and it's a beautiful sight), that sort of weirdness. A
bit like right about now actually.

But as more the macroclimate, it seems to be roughly the same as it is now.
With exceptions like the expanding Sahara desert, if it's a forest now,
it's a forest in 205X, if it's a desert now, it's a desert in 205X.

Not too much help I'm sure, and maybe not even what you were looking for,
but that's how it is.

There isn't a lot of mention of anything that would point to there
having been a lot of global warming, given the amount of hassle FASA
get for what they have done to certain countries as it is a realistic
interpretation of how bad it would be with the SR corporate mindset
loose on our climate well, certain list members would need ships!
(being a little to far from the coast to manage in a boat)

There are a few comments here and there, about more rain, places that
are hotter or colder than they were, deserts that moved etc. FASA
often put it down to awakening magic hotspots, side affects of the
Great Ghost Dance, Druids etc. Mind all the reforestation, eg tir
Taingire and Amazonia would have a significant affect as well.

Overall i cannot remember any specifics but FASA do seem to have
just gone for what seemed interesting to the authours i haven't
noticed a pattern that would suggest a descision to guess at a level
of global warming and borrow a prediction for the globe.

And to those listmembers i haven't told yet, more SR is now on the
web!

Not much at the moment but some characters some might have heard of
and a few rules sets, some of which will be familiar to some.

Frankly I dont blame them for not going for specifics, there isnt much
point. It's srtill largely guesswork when working with real life global
warming's effect on climate. If you're writing a fictional universe with
large scale weather affecting magic, you might as well just go for what
seems most cool (not in the weather sense !) and just enjoy it.
