As many of you might or might not know, Erik Jameson, aka the Whistler,
aka GKoth2258@***.com, once put together a net.book known as Edge Runners,
containing powerful PCs from ShadowRN listmembers. The major flaw
in the whole plan was the distribution of this book (this having to do
with AOL :), so he's now sent it to me with the intention of it being a
NERPS thing. I've looked through it, and think it will fit in quite nicely
with the Underworld project that currently isn't doing very much at all.

The book has some 22 characters, each having a description of his/her
physical appearance, personal background, shadowtalk about him/her, and
full game stats. Its intention is two-fold: to show SR players what other
peoples' characters look like (all chars in the book are or have been
played by real people :), and to provide GMs with some strong NPCs by
using these characters. There is also an appendix with about 15 spells,
although their exact relevance to the characters I have not yet
determined, having only had the book in my possession for about 10 minutes
as I write this :)

What I propose is to put this into NERPS: Underworld, since it will fill
about a third to half of a book after editing and tidying it up a bit and
we're running rather low on material for Underworld (hint, hint).
That is, if "the list" agrees with me, of course.

Using Edge Runners sounds like a great idea.. You're right, things
have been slow around here lately, but the holiday season usually
does that to all of the lists. What's the deadline supposed to be
for NERPS: Underworld, anyhow?

I think it's a great idea. A friend of mine and I have been using old
characters as NPCs, but evrybody knows who thry are. It would also be
neat to see other players characters to see what they've allowed in their
campaigns. I say, Go for it

I'm aware of that, but it's just that NERPS hasn't been doing much for the
past few months.

There is no deadline at the moment. Although if setting one might get
people moving, I think I'll set one :)

What I was thinking, after looking through it a bit more, is to make it a
separate book. NERPS: Edge Runners or something. We could expand on it, in
the same style it is in now, if Erik gives his OK that is. The way it is
now, it's about 55 pages long, so if integrated into the Underworld book
it would be at least half of the book; I think it would be a better idea
to add more characters (there's 22 in it now) and call it a NERPS book by
itself.

Gurth:

Also very plausible. I'll dig out some characters and send 'em to
you. I'm also trying to come up with a write-up for a new contact, the
Mentor. I'll send it for the Underworld when it's complete.

Hold on a sec, I first want to know what Erik (Jameson) thinks about this.
I don't want to go mess up his book before he says it's OK to do so :)
Once I know what he thinks, I'll post the things you'll need to know about
sending your chars here on the NERPS list.

Erik has agreed to make Edge Runners a NERPS book.
Now, for anyone who wants to submit a character, take a look at the one
included below. The same kind of data is needed for every character:
physical data, a description of his/her background and skills (this is the
game world bit, keep hat in mind), any shadowtalk you might want to
include, and then full game stats: all attribute and skill ratings,
cyberware and bioware, spells, and the gear the character most often
carries or uses. Also additional notes for the GM, and the Black Market
and Information ratings. These latter two ratings represent how much
access the character has to the black market and to shadow information;
they would be used as skills, and have similar values -- a character with
a Blackmarket Rating of 10 can get nearly anything, while one with the
same rating at 0 hardly knows where to get even simple things.

Characters should be sent to the NERPS list.

ROTTEN, JOHNNY...(FIXER)
Erik Jameson (GKoth2258@***.com)

Name: unknown
Aliases: Johnny Rotten
Sex: Male
Metaspecies/Race: Caucasoid Homo Sapiens Sapiens
Residence: Seattle, UCAS
Height: 1.7m
Weight: 72 kg
Eyes: brown
Hair: black
Distinguishing Features: none
Birthdate: unknown, 2030
Birthplace: Seattle, UCAS
Psychological Profile: unknown. Has evidenced possible schizophrenia, possible psychosis
Known Allergies: none
Lifestyle: Middle

Background: Johnny Rotten grew up on the streets of the Redmond Barrens in
Seattle. Being very thin he was often picked on by most of the other, larger
children. The only way he was able to survive was by making deals. He had a
talent for not only finding wanted items, but also for getting the best prices
on them. Little else is known about Rotten, save the fact that he has a long-
standing freelance relationship with Fuchi Seattle.

Johnny Rotten is a thoroughly disagreeable man, often wearing torn and
tattered clothes and purposefully not bathing for days on end before a
business meeting. He has never given an answer for his behavior, but it is
assumed that he delights in offending people, especially corporate types.

Skills: It is believed that Rotten has very little, if any, combat abilities.
However, he has a distinct talent for acquiring goods, regardless of their
legality or rarity.

for him.]<<<<<

GEAR
(Rotten rarely carries his merchandise with him, and what is listed are merely
his favorites)
Ares Predator (customized, laser sight, APDS)
Armored Leather Duster (4/2)
Pocket Secretary

Notes: Rotten's Charisma is dreadful. He however, is persuasive, and has a
certain aura about him. Depending on the situation, use either the higher or
lower number as his Charisma. While Negotiating, use the higher number. In
other Social situations (picking up on women), use the lower number.

Need an item, or need someone new to hire the PCs? Rotten is your man if you
are also looking for someone who is incredibly obnoxious.

Are folks most interested in ex PC's, NPC's or what. I have a number
of characters lying about in my GM's file, they generally have
physical desciptions at least, (will have to print out the guidelnine
to see how much work some might need). I won't be able to put
everything up, it would take too long.

Are we going to have to get author ID's for this as a book in its own
right, my 'NEPRS Dragons etc.' one long since timed out. On that note
please, SL2 which thats now part of, i have most of the dragons etc
bit in submission by submission printouts but finding them gets
hopeless, now which pile of ex web printouts ah ah .... um....
I am still out of ideas for any 'underworld' submissions, the only
'character' i thing i posted before was that dragon to 'dragons etc'
but more might be needed for here. That will not be getting reworked,
enough of that one got written 'while submitting it' as it was!

It is nice to see some NEPRS traffic again, it was reaching 'you what
a NERPS message!' although some foks have done a lot of work on the
large postings they put up at the end of last year.

Happy New Year everyone.

Powerful PCs. Powerful NPCs would also be welcome, but I'd like PCs
better than NPCs, if you want to submit something. Remember that Edge
Runners started out as a net-version of FASA's Prime Runners, with (I
believe) Erik's thought of "Those are supposed to be powerful?!"

I'm not looking for hundreds of characters. Every char will take up about
1 1/2 to 2 pages in the book, so if I receive too many I might have to
turn down some. At the moment there are 22 characters on 39 pages. That's
including the intros and appendices.

No. Just post your character(s) to this list, each in a separate message
if you don't mind, and they'll go into the book. If anyone objects to a
certain character being submitted, we'll see what we can do about that by
looking at the NERPS FAQ.

Where are you trying to go with this bit? It started off as a question,
but by the end I'm not quite sure :)

I would like to add this:

NPCs are fine, to me, (Gurth must still approve however) as long as they meet
certain criteria.

1)They must be more than some chump on the streets. In other words, they
have got to be interesting from a professional standpoint. Not just another
fixer...or arms dealer...

2)They MUST be interesting!!! Fun and different! Maybe even unique!

I guess the thing is, if Gurth will allow NPCs, make sure they are good
enough to also be played as PCs.

And yes, Gurth, you are right. Edge Runners was my reaction to the generally
lame Prime Runners...

Now let's see some submissions!

Erik
