1) I've seen enough references to "Shadows of the Underworld" (or whatever) to
become curious. Where do I find a copy of this? Is it on the Net
somewhere, is it a published thing or what? Someone please post a responce or
just e-mail me directly at "tpcooper@***.csupomona.edu"

2) As for the ongoing comments about the quantity of awakened life in the ocean
I beg all participants to take a look at the variety of awakened life on land,
and merely follow suit. I see absolutely no reason to ignore such wonderful
creations as those found in Leviathin or Deep-Star Six (another good source for
material), granted the aliens from Abyss are not in synch with SR's environment.
Given all the wierd, bizarre and strange life that already exists in the
deepest darkest parts of the seas, I say go for it. Also since most forms of
awakened life have been "documented" in the form of ancient myths and faerie
tales, take a good look at all those myths about things in the ocean and all
those mysterious triangle places (I hate to source Paladium - which is no where
near being par with SR, but there are a few good examples of things in Rifts:
Underseas and Atlantis to look at).

Also check out a certain Short Story by H.P. Lovecraft which I believe is called
"Shadow over Innsmouth" or something. Great story about fishy things
"older
than man" that breed with the towns people and worship ancient, powerful beings.
This brings up the issue of more unconvetnional totems, toxic, alien or
otherwise.

3)Now that that got me thinking... anybody seriously parallel the events of
Earthdawn - magic comes back, people welcome and use it with abandon, then the
horrors come... and ShadowRun. What are Toxic totems, what are those
increasingly stange astral and magical "things" that are hinted at and hedged
around in the dialogs in source books and stuff? A friend of mine and I kicked
it around a bit and ended up smiling...

To qoute a sticker on my gaming folder:

"When the GM smiles it's already too late!"

food for thought.

Shadows was the most recent FASA game book, although it was nothing more
than a series of short adventures, most of them fairly mediocre, although
I've been told that a couple were quite good. Unfortunately, I have been
unable to read it due to my GM wanted to run me through at least one of the
adventures.

Not to be confused with the last NERPS product, of course, NERPS:
Underworld. (BTW, Gurth, is there a way to get this file as plain .txt or
in .wri format? I have a little, itty bitty, glorified word processor of a
computer that can't handle .rtf ot post script files or any such... I have
yet to be able to read anything you guys have done, really, which is a shame.)

Why do you hate sourcing palladium? I do it all the time. I already got the
uderseas book. It's quite good for that system, but a little to outlandish
for SR. Though there are a few good ideas. Palladium may not put out actual
"modules" but they do make a lot of ideas. :)

True, but Palladium is just such a MESSY system...that and Siembieda hates it
when gammers try to be creative with his stuff (about sued White Wolf over them
publishing some material for it in one of their issues)...ever try to track down
a rule across the "RIFTS multi-verse" books?...at least FASA takes time to write
FRAGGIN' indexes (or is it 'indicies', I forget)... but hey, I'm not bitter or
anything :)

Yes it is messy but it has great ideas in it. As for Siembieda, the company
has an open idea policy on net enhancemnets. Just search on frifts or any of
the other palladium books and your find huge amounts of information. Lastly
the dd have indexes. The're in a different book. :) The just want our
money. :)

True, true... I've too had the experience of typing "Rifts" into YAHOO's
search field and wading through a load of pages, 25 sites deep...

Ahhh...capitalism :)

<<anyone else feel slightly disconserted at how wide spread this corny
little ":)" thing has become, and that we all seem to use it with reckless
abandon. It's almost as if we are no longer capable of either making our true
intent/mood discernable in our writing or picking up on another writer's
intent/mood... oh well, :)"
