become curious. Where do I find a copy of this? Is it on the Net
somewhere, is it a published thing or what? Someone please post a responce or
just e-mail me directly at "tpcooper@***.csupomona.edu"
2) As for the ongoing comments about the quantity of awakened life in the ocean
I beg all participants to take a look at the variety of awakened life on land,
and merely follow suit. I see absolutely no reason to ignore such wonderful
creations as those found in Leviathin or Deep-Star Six (another good source for
material), granted the aliens from Abyss are not in synch with SR's environment.
Given all the wierd, bizarre and strange life that already exists in the
deepest darkest parts of the seas, I say go for it. Also since most forms of
awakened life have been "documented" in the form of ancient myths and faerie
tales, take a good look at all those myths about things in the ocean and all
those mysterious triangle places (I hate to source Paladium - which is no where
near being par with SR, but there are a few good examples of things in Rifts:
Underseas and Atlantis to look at).
Also check out a certain Short Story by H.P. Lovecraft which I believe is called
"Shadow over Innsmouth" or something. Great story about fishy things
"older
than man" that breed with the towns people and worship ancient, powerful beings.
This brings up the issue of more unconvetnional totems, toxic, alien or
otherwise.
3)Now that that got me thinking... anybody seriously parallel the events of
Earthdawn - magic comes back, people welcome and use it with abandon, then the
horrors come... and ShadowRun. What are Toxic totems, what are those
increasingly stange astral and magical "things" that are hinted at and hedged
around in the dialogs in source books and stuff? A friend of mine and I kicked
it around a bit and ended up smiling...
To qoute a sticker on my gaming folder:
"When the GM smiles it's already too late!"
food for thought.
