Did we every officially agree on the status of the Guide to the World? It
seemed to me that consensus was to cancel it, but I don't think that was
universally stated.

I am still interested in doing a piece on Africa for that book. It is in the
pipeline. One problem I am having is finding a map I can work on, but
National Geographic should be able to help out there. Have there been enough
submissions? I know there are a few guys from Japan and Malaysia and the
region that play. Should we encourage people to get on the list? Heres where
they could make a difference.

Thanks

According to Wordman, at 21:09 on 8 Sep 98, the word on the street was...

I'm not sure... I for one am against canceling it, but OTOH keeping it
open won't do much good either if nobody submits anything for it anymore.

Definately get the Japan guys to join and write a Japan sourse. I've said
before that we needed a book covering Japan. I know FASA likes to have
locals write the books but it's really stupid, IMHO, that in 9 years FASA's
done SR, that no one has writen a Japan book when Japan is such a major
power. They've written a German, and British book, and while I understand
why that happened, neither of those countries, can hold a candle to the
importance of Japan in the SR world. If they could write anything about
Japan and it's environs that would fill a major hole in FASA's world.

I can help out with Hawaii and the CAS. I've recently proven to myself
that I'm not up to par in the writing field, but if anyone is doing work
in these areas, I could probably toss a few ideas their way.

Except for Saeder-Krupp, I agree. Besides, there has got to be a few
people who've spent significant time in Japan that would be willing to
write the book. What I would really like to see, though, is a China and an
India book. More than half the world's population lives there now, and
they will probably be major powers in 60 years (real life) to say nothing
about what would happen when suddenly some Tai Chi practitioners, (or the
Thuggee) start having powers work for real. Maybe I should write one.

Geuss who needs an ego boost :)

Tomus, the one prob I have is getting the basic source material, so if you
will send it to me (in private) I will try to write it up in a presentable
manner. Deal?

Check out the Shadowrun JIS project at
http://www.sainet.or.jp/~fatcat/index-e.html

Pretty cool and some GREAT ideas. Pity the guy who writes it has a poor
grasp of English. Maybe one of the list luminaries could approach him and we
could do a "translation" job for him as NERPS:Japanese Imperial State, with
full credits to the site owner of course.

Hmmmmmm????? Makes u think.....

I was talking to some people on IRC #Shadowrun about an India book the other
day. Seems the concensus is that the religious system is so complex and
different from Western ideas that only someone with a REAL understanding of
the milleu would be capable of an accurate article.

We would'nt want to offend anyone now would we?
