and especially missing spaces, because his keyboard sucks... :)
Yesterday, I sort of skimmed through the NERPS posts made during the past 2
1/2 weeks, and thought it might be a good time to make some comments of my
own now, instead of waiting for a week or more until I get home.
When I had time to think (like while I was on a plane or train) I had the
idea that turning NERPS into a Shadowrun magazine might get our asses into
gear -- make NERPS similar to what Adam does with TSS, but written on the
list like we've done for the net.books for years. Only listmembers'
articles would be elligible for submissions, and they'd be open to the
normal commitee-based writing we tend to have here (i.e. you post
something, others comment, then you adjust your article and repost; repeat
if necessary).
This has several advantages, IMHO: most important is that we don't have to
stick to a theme for each issue, so any kind of submission would be
acceptable, from locations to gear to spells to fiction and beyond (just
not too much fiction -- it's part of what made Shadowland a mediocre
magazine, if you ask me). We would have an easy time for the first few
issues, as submissions for the NAGTTW and Stuff could be used
straight-away, plus other items that people care to post.
Another advantage of doing a magazine is that it doesn't have to be 100+
pages to make a file -- 30 to 50 would be sufficient, and so we can finish
them faster and more easily than we can a full book (as I think the NAGTTW
has proven).
Just something for all of you (and me) to think about until I get back
home, get over 9 hours jetlag, and download my own mail :)
