Hiya!
I just joined this list after talking to someone about Japan.
Somewhere around here I had a bunch of info on SR in Japan that a buddy
sent me when he lived there for a couple of years. If I can find it, are
you guys interested in seeing it for the NAGTTW, or is someone already
doing a piece on it? I am willing to help in any way possible, as I love
SR and have most of the sourcebooks and such.

Please do! It'd be great to see some kind of info about Japan.... the
only problem I can see is that it probably won't be the kind of place you
want to run; Too much of a strnaglehold by the corps.

Keep in mind that (according to one of the books) apparently NO violent
crimes are commited in the city center of Tokyo. That may be partly a
cover-up, but it's somehing to think about.

No one is writing about Japan yet, so this would be a good opportunity, if
your friend doesn't mind his work being put into the NAGTTW of course.

There is always some crime, if you ask me. It would just be very likely
that nothing of this gets out to the rest of the world, the way Japan is
run in the 2050s.

Hi All,

You are absolutely correct about crime in Japan. I lived there for 5 years
and the crime rate is astonishingly low. However, any violent crimes that
do occur (outside of the Yakuza) are supressed by the government. Most of
the violent crime in Japan IS committed by the Yak and when it stays inter
Yak nobody really cares. The murder rate in the entire country of Japan is
purported to be somewhere in the 50s or so a year, but you only learn of
around 2 or 3 murders. But even if the murder rate is say 50, they are
doing something right. It really is amazingly low no matter which rate is
correct.

Wheras the suicide rate, on the other hand......

For a nation with such a strong ancestral warrior code, they've been
changed immensely as a result of WWII
