Japan in 2058 (and other items)
To nerps@********.itribe.net

AFAIK, Japan, as FASA has positioned it, is primarily an
economic power. After all, you have Fuchi, Mitsuhama,
Renraku, Shiawase, and Yamatetsu all based there. That's 5
of the Big 8!

However, it has also been made clear that Japan now is also
a military force to be reckoned with. I believe most of
their troops are corporate, but clearly not all of them.

In my world of 2057, I had Japan go on major military
conquests, taking over a fair portion of the South Pacific,
including the Phillipines. They've avoided the China
quagmire, simply because they've seen Taiwan get involved
with the mainland and get dragged in, and down. So Japan
will pound any Chinese warlord getting too powerful too
close to Japan (kind of maintaining a buffer zone), but
won't get directly involved.

You know, like I said before, I have write-ups of much of
the world, done. With matching maps. But I would like to
wait until people decide what nations they are going to
write about. That avoids me saying that Madagascar is a
world power now, or something stupid, when the person
writing about Madagascar says otherwise.

So, who volunteers to do what? Gurth obviously is doing the
Netherlands. Paolo M. had better do _something_ about Italy
(damn it! ;-)). I'll do the "briefs" for countries we don't
cover (since I've already done it) with the matching maps.
I can also expand the information I have on the Middle East.
What a fun area. That'll mean Israel (still around),
Palestine (in even worse shape), Egypt (no pharoahs damn
it!) , the Saud Caliphate (a modern Islamic nation), the
Libya-Syria Axis (currently using the borrowed name of the
Damascus League and home of the reborn Hashisheen), the
reborn Persian Empire (which isn't fine and dandy) and the
problem nation of Afghanistan (rebels, religion and nothing
but trouble for the Persian Empire). Of course, given all
this material, don't expect the kind of detail that Gurth
will likely have with the Netherlands...

Well, I'll do Naples, if no one else wants to do it. I'll also
give my version of Guam, which is an independent Awakened nation close
enough to give Japan nightmares.

As I said earlier, unfortunately, I've never been outside the States, and
know very little specific info about the rest of the world, at least not
enough to do a post on, so I'll do what I can to cover some of the areas
here that haven't been covered...:)

Nothing to major. Also, we *should* do a section on what runners think
about Dunkelzahn's assianation.

You had that thing about Cleveland going on ShadowRN, didn't you? As I
recall, FASA has said little about Cleveland in any SR books, so it's fine
by me. Any other places in the States that haven't had much said about
them in previously-published SR books are also good.

Oh, and one more little thing: I already said I don't want to contradict
FASA, and I have the same thing about the NAGEE and previous NERPS books.
For example, Wordman did a very good write-up of Pueblo in NAGEE 4, so I
don't think we need to cover that city in the NAGTTW.
