In addition, or perhaps as a part of, the "assorted other
stuff" I plan on covering several Middle East nations and
perhaps something in what was the old USSR and Warsaw Pact
nations. I'll have to see just how much time I can devote
over the next couple of months.

Unless, of course, someone from those regions wishs to speak
up. Those two areas were focuses of my Political Science
minor, so I know more than the average person. And trust
me, I won't be making all Arabs into towel-wearing
bomb-throwing fanatics, or anything similar. And no, Egypt
will NOT be ruled by the pharoahs again...I hate that
concept...

I'll work on a bit of the CAS and Texas. I've also told R.J.Molpus about
the list and he says he'll be coming over sometime soon. He's the guy that
worked on the Dallas/Fort Worth section of the NAGNA. Hopefully, he'll be
able so shed some light on the state of the State (of Texas).

Hmmm...

I'm thinking about doing a section forn NAGTTW about Poland, but for
that I'd like to know first what's the official FASA info about
Poland... I know we were fighting in Euro Wars (that kinda figures),
but that's pretty much all...

Howdy!

I just downloaded the versions of my articles up on Paolo's site. I'm going
through the process of editing them; cleaning up spelling and grammar, making
changes that have been nagging me, and adding some shadow comments.

For those people interested, I do have something for both Poland (the only
FASA official thing is that it's heavily industrial, very nasty) and for
Israel. For those two fellows nice enough to write up Israel, I would
suggest trying to make your article sort of fit into the rest of the Middle
East picture. Doesn't have to fit exactly, since I can rewrite some things.
But at least, please, think about what I have written about the rest of the
area when doing Israel.

I will be posting all the articles to the list as soon as I finish editing
them.

Thanks everyone for you comments!

Official is stated in the germany sourcebook, that large parts of
poland is under controll of SK. They are the main employer, the main
power and so. Its more like a puppet state.
Besides that, I donno of more.

As the France sourcebook has been published, I think that my posting
about France in the NAGTTW has no more sense. Moreover, the sourcebook
and my posting are completely contradictory. So I must give up my
participation in the NAGTTW for that matter. But I'm trying to create
something about India in my game and I could translate it in English for
the Guide in one or two months if it interests you.

I'd figured as much.

I've put you down for India in the Authors & Articles post. India hasn't
been covered to any extent by FASA, and it has an interesting culture
IMHO, so this sound like a good idea.

Magical traditions of the Hindu and Buddhist peoples would be quite
interesting, and how the Awakening has affected India. India is quite
interesting now, and an Awakened Indea has a lot of potential, IMO.

I'm currently working on something about Azania, though slowly ATM due
to other, more important (sic!) things.
But still, anything I finish can get part of the NAGTTW.

(This is not a submission yet - I really don't know if I'll ever finish
it. Once I think it's worth announcing it I will post my ideas.)

Since there still seems to be an interest in finishing the NAGTTW, I'd
like everyone to re-post their articles in the most recent version. Note
that these articles will NOT be open to any further discussion.

The reason I ask for a re-post is because, although I did save all the
NERPS posts, I can't find anything anymore with all the revisions, threads
about posted articles, and so on.

If you can send me an RTF version of the article, please say so in the
repost of the article; I'd rather not have Word 97 docs because I'm
planning to do the layout of this thing in Adobe Pagemaker (now thta I
finally managed to figure out how to make it do the things I want to :)
and that won't read Word 97 files in the version I have access to.

Hey all,

I just joined up onto the NERPS mailing list earlier today after hearing
about the NAGTTW project over on the ShadowRN list.

Is there any plan to include the CAS in this thing? I've just sent off some
notes to someone running the CAS Bureau of Tourism web page (the link is in
the new links section on the Archive) regarding Texas, and I'd be willing to
work on something about the CAS if anyone is interested.

Hey Thomas, goos to see you over here...:) Well, as far as I know, so far
the guide is going to be mostly stuff around the world that hasn't been
covered yet by FASA, as well as sevral things here in the states... I'm
going to cover cleveland, partially cause I've never been outside the US
(except to Canada one as a kid), and I'm going to cover the shift in Corp
power in the Mid-East from Chicago to Cleveland after the Bugs hit...:)
Among other things...:)

Well, welcome aboard...:)

I'm wondering if anyone's doing Minneapolis/St. Paul. I have some ideas
about it, mostly harkening back to it's days as a gangster haven in the
'30's (all those Mafia suits had to flee -somewhere- when the Bugs hit).
If anyone wants to pass on any pubblished stuff, ouut of the novels
mostly, I'd be grateful.

I have a few ideas on something for northern florida. But before I start
digging into this, is there anything that has the tiniest bit of
history on why the CAS is the CAS?

Few I ideas I'm running through right now:

Mississippi: The Second Las Vegas?!?! With all the casinoes there now
it could be possible by 2057.
Northern Florida: Continually battered by hurricanes<or Air and Water
Spirits>. But has become the #1 tourist destination
in the 6th none the less(something along the lines
of corporate backing).

About all the ideas I have for the CAS of yet, mostly the gulf coast.

The CAS is made up of 10 states in the south that took advantage of the
turmoil the US (then the newly formed UCAS) went through following the
Computer Crash and the reorganization when it joined with Canada to form teh
UCAS. It seceded in 2034 (?? No exact date given), with a fairly peaceful
and bloodless secession...

See page 28 for the exact data, but other than that, the Neo A's guide to NA
may be the only placce with any more hard data on that, and even that's a
guess on my part... It really hasn't been covered...

Gurth, do you know of anywhere they might go into this in a bit more detail?

This is not an Ad, but I've seen the usefulness of the Shadowrun
Explorer on my page. John Maniha has collected almost every event in the
SR history.

For example, a serach based on " CAS " resulted in:
-----------------------------------------------------------------

Events related to CAS

2034: In the UCAS, a few days after MacAlister's speech, Alabama,
Arkansas, Florida, Georgia,
Louisiana, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, and the
southern portion of Virginia secede
from the UCAS to form the Confederated American States (CAS). The
CAS is instantly recognized by
Aztlan. Sentiments run high, and fears of a second civil war are
rampant. Nevertheless, the transition is
relatively orderly. President MacAlister signs the Treaty of
Richmond with the rebel states establishing
peaceful boundaries and a working political and economic
relationship between the two countries. The
Northern part of Virginia remains as a state in the UCAS. The CAS is
also written into the governing
council of the city of FRFZ. Military units, divided in loyalties,
split up and move to their preferred
countries with few incidents of violence. The former governor of
Alabama is voted pro tem president of
the CAS until regular elections can be held.

2035: In Texas, CAS, the State Legislature petitions for a military
venture to reclaim the southwest of
Texas. The CAS government, fearing that the NAN will come to the
defense of Aztlan, refuses Texas'
petition.

2035: In Atlanta, Georgia, CAS, The Insurance War. Cord Mutual
Insurance and North American Eagle
Life Insurance wage a semi-covert war over the insurance contract
for all employees of the CAS
government. On June 8, six Geas jets explode simultaneously in
flight from their Atlanta departure point.
Geas Airline is insured by North American Eagle Life Insurance which
pays out huge sums both for the
jets and the relatives of slain passengers. No connection is made
with Cord Mutual. A sweep of
assassinations of vidstars and entertainment personalities across
the continent, especially in Atlanta,
follows.

2035: In Atlanta, Georgia, CAS, the media breaks the story on the
Insurance War, acting on rumors of the
two corporations' involvement in the rash of violence in the sprawl.
The CAS government and the City of
Atlanta government comes down hard on both corporations, ending the
war.

2035: In Atlanta, Georgia, CAS, Cord Mutual is able to provide
evidence of North American Eagle's
funding of the Medusa Sisterhood, while no official connection is
made between Cord Mutual and the
independent operatives they used as soldiers in the Insurance War.
North American Eagle is assessed fines
and several top officials are arrested. Cord Mutual wins the CAS
insurance contract despite a storm of
controversy.

2035: After seeing the strength of Tir Tairngire, every other member
of the NAN recognize Tir Tairngire
as a sovereign state. The Caribbean League, UCAS, CAS and Aztlan
refuse to recognize Tir Tairngire.

2039: In the CAS, senate hearings begin to investigate charges of
racial prejudice against metahumans.
The committee's shocking report verifies that conditions amount to
slavery in most states. The Native
American Nations impose heavy trade sanctions on CAS to speed up
metahuman equality laws.

2044: The CAS is accepted into the United Nations.

2045: In the CAS, Secretary of State Gabriel McCoy fills the Vice
Presidency by popular vote despite
fierce mudslinging. Vice President McCoy becomes the only force
keeping the CAS cabinet in check.

2050: In Atlanta, Georgia, CAS, thousands of orks, trolls, elves,
and dwarves converge on the capital,
calling for increased awareness of the metahumans's plight. Members
of the militant Metahuman
Organized Rebellion (MOR) accuse the CAS of encouraging genocide by
their inaction.

2051: In the CAS Magical Studies Journal, Dr. Jean-Paul Dumaillier
writes his article Voudoun in the
Modern Age. This article brings forth the study of the Voodoo school
of magic.

2053: In the CAS, Robert Coventry, husband of CAS Environmental
Director Catherine Coventry,
disappears after last being seen at his residence.

2053: Talks between the CAS and Aztlan concerning acid rain caused
by Aztlan factories break down
after four seemingly productive days when Vice Minister of Foreign
Affairs Juan Cuatal suddenly
announces that Aztlan was no longer interested in talks and the CAS
could ". . . rot in their own bile." The
announcement comes mere hours after it was disclosed that the
husband of CAS Environmental Director,
Catherine Coventry, is missing. As a result, both nations go on peak
military alert.

2053: The CAS Destroyer Garfish disappears on a routine mission.
Communication with the ship was lost
seven days previous but trouble was not suspected due to the
communication interference caused by a
storm front that hovered over the coastal area for the previous
week.

2054: The CAS destroyer Garfish is found at the bottom of the Gulf
of Mexico. No bodies are found
onboard.

2055: In DeeCee Sprawl, UCAS, the Compensation Army takes over the
Metro stations in Metro Center,
Gallery Place, Smithsonian, L'Enfant Plaza, Federal Triangle,
Waterfront, and Rosslyn. As a result the
government sends in the remaining battalions not currently in
Chicago of the army 101st Air Insertion
Division under the title Task Force Kemper to control the violence.
However instead of ending the
violence, it escalates into other districts. Firefighters are
prevented from entering the city. Supposedly to
protect them. Rumors begin to spread about army execution squads
killing any Compensation Army
members whether they surrender or not. Further rumors spread that
the Conscience of the Country is in
actuality a group funded by the CAS to destabilize North Virginia
enough to allow it to secede from the
UCAS.

2055: In FRFZ, an Aztechnology high priest is extracted from the
Aztlan sector by a shadowrunner group.
A large number of high explosive weaponry is used resulting in a
great deal of death and destruction. The
runners escape in a van that is hit with a missile before it can
cross into CAS territory.
------------------------------------------------

Sorry for the lengthy post, but at least there are some info and is
quite Shadowrun related, so shut up :)

[Bunch of stuff snipped]
If people are gonna be writing stuff for their home cities (ones that FASA
most likely is never going to touch), I guess I might be able to give
something for mine- Baltimore City. I have a bunch of ideas on just how
charm city is fairing in the 2050s- gang violence, lots of orks & trolls,
plenty of drugs and prostitution on baltimore street, and lets not forget
that corporate wonderland of the inner harbor...

A few questions though- is there any limit on how big the entry has to be
(not likely but I thought I'd ask anyway)?

Wha ... ? Where's Oklahoma? According to the map, OK's been split
horizontally just below the panhandle, and the bulk of it's south of the
border ... my own home town, Tulsa, is a mere stone's throw from the UCAS.

Hmm ...
