Gentlemen

Here is the first draft of my article on Naval Ordnance for your
comments. It is not complete I intend to add the witty (or what I
think are witty) comments of shadowruners after this stage is
finished. By the way I am open for suggested comments and runners
names. To keep a manageable length to these messages I have divided
the article in to 4 parts. I intend to send them out at thes ame time.
Question-- Is this better then one long article? Well enjoy :-)

Naval Ordnance

ASROC II: Submarines are an all weather weapons platform it takes
an all weather, day or night weapons system to defeat them. The
ASROC II ship-launched Anti-submarine weapons system fits this bil l
to a "T". The ASROC II consists of a of a MK 46 acoustic homing
torpedo mated to a solid fueled rocket motor. When a target is
identified the missile is fired, it travels a ballistic trajectory
to the vicinity of the target where a parachute is deployed to lower
a Mark 46 torpedo into the water, the activates homing mechanism
activated and the torpedo seeks out and destroys the target. The
ASROC II can be launched from the eight tube Mk 112 ASROC II
launcher, the Seawolf SSM launching system or the Mark 37 Launcher.

Intel Damage Weight CF Cost
ASROC II 4 435 kg 3* 500,=
000¥
Fire Control Console - 50 kg 3 250,00=

Note: Damage per Mk 46 Torpedo. * Cf is for a single missile in
standard shipping container. Missile is 4.6 meters long 32.5 cm in
diameter. The availability, street index for this weapons syste m
is left to the discretion of the GM..

Defender Armed Container System: For those occasions when you need
to take a cargo ship into harms way the Defender Armed Container
System provides a quick and cost effective way to provide defensi ve
armament. The manufactured to the same dimensions as the standard
international cargo containers the Defender is a complete, self
contained weapons system. Just stack the Defender with the norma l
containers on the top layer on the corner or edge. Strap it down
like any other cargo container. Then connect the power cable to the
ships power and the system is ready to operate. Where centralize d
fire control is desired the ship can be equipped with a bridge
mounted fire control console and be pre-wired with control lead that
terminate in quick release fittings. All that is needed is to co
nnect the Defender to the one of the deck mounted terminals, turn on
the power up and the system is operational. Defenders are
available armed with either the Goalkeeper III, Point Defence
System, Dual Oerlikon 35mm mount Bofors 40mm AA mount or the
76/62 OTO Compact Gun Turret mounted on the top of the container.

Ammo Mode Damage Weight =
Cost
Goalkeeper III 9000 BF/FA 20D * 7900kg =
355,000¥
Dual 35mm 1200 SA/FA per ammo 4456kg =
142,500¥
Bofors40 L/70 400 SA/FA 21D* 7400kg =
165,000¥
76/62 OTO 200 SA per ammo 11.5t =
700,000¥

Notes: Damage is for a 25 round burst (the minimum burst possible)
* These weapons may not use the called shot procedure against a
human or meta-human sized target. The damage value against human and
meta-human targets is 12D, use stated value against armored targets.
Other targets subject to GM's discretion. The availability, street
index for this weapons system is left to the discretion of the
GM.. Depth Charge, Mark 26: This time proven design insures reliable
operation. The remotely selectable electronic fuzing can be set to
either detonate at a selected depth or in proximity of a submarine s
metallic hull. The Mark 26 also is equipped with a mechanical
back-up fuzing system that is manually set.. Detonation depth
settings for both fusing can be set to depths of up to 300 meters
(in 10 meter increments). This Depth charge can be either dropped
from conventional stern mounted racks or fired from a "Y" Gun.
Length 1397 mm Diameter: 279 mm

Cf Damg Weight Cost
Mark 26, Depth Charge 1 45D 123 kg 900¥
10 Charge Rack 12 - 226 kg * =
1500¥

Notes: The proximity fuzing system has an minimum arming depth of
30 meters when dropped from a stern rack. GM's are advised that
under certain circumstances dropping depth charges from a stationary
vessel in shallow water can have a detrimental effect on the
dropping vessel. * Weight of empty rack. The availability, street
index for this weapons system is left to the discretion of the GM.

Goalkeeper III, Point Defence System: This fast reacting close-in
weapon system is the intelligent answer to the ship killing
capability of modern anti-ship missile systems. With the Goalkeeper
II, search and tracking radars are integrated in to the gun mount,
providing a fully autonomous and automated weapons system. The GE
30mm Gatling Gun used on the Goalkeeper III, with its 4200 RPM rate
o f fire and the proven terminal effectiveness of its ammo gives the
system unsurpassed stopping power. The dual wave-length tracking
radar provides for supreme tracking accuracy indifferent to sea ref
lection interference. While capable of fully one or more
Goalkeepers can be integrated into the vessels anti-missile defence
system.

Ammo Mode Damage Weight CF Cost
Goalkeeper III 4500* BF/FA 20D 3900kg 3 255,000¥

Notes: When in autonomous operation the Sensor Level is 5and ECCM
Level is 3. * On mount ammunition. Mount can be connected to a
supplemental magazine. Damage is for a 25 round burst (the minimum
burst possible) This weapon may not use the called shot procedure
against a human or meta-human sized target. The damage value against
human and meta-human targets is 12D, use stated value against ar
mored targets. Other targets subject to GM's discretion. Cf rating
is for the below deck portion of the mount. The Goalkeeper must be
mounted on a horizontal surface at least 5 meters square with no
overhead obstructions. This mount is not suitable for a pop-up or
concealed turret. This system requires electric power. The
availability, street index for this weapons system is left to the
discr etion of the GM..

Launch System, Guided Missile, Mark 37: Developed by TMC's Naval
Ordinance Division the Mark 26 Guided Missile Launch System is a
complete missile launch system for frigates and larger naval
vessels. This fully automatic system includes missile launch arms
complete with traverse and elevation mechanism, conveyer and rotary
magazines. The magazine system can hold a mixed complement of
Seawolf SSM, S eahawk SAM ASROC III missiles and is modular with
20, 40 or 60 missile capacity. For flexibility of installation the
system can be configured with either horizonal or vertical drum
magazines. The s ystem includes an air powered automatic misfire
jettison system.

Cf Weight Cost
Launch System, Mark 37 2000* 132 t 15,000,000¥

Notes: The launcher portion of this system has 2 launch rails.
Which must be mounted on a horizontal surface at least 6 meters
square with no overhead obstructions. This system may only be
installed during vessel construction or re-construction. This system
can fire mixed salvos. Weight of launcher without missiles.
Launcher and control unit requires electric power. * Cf rating is
for the bel ow deck portion of the mount. This mount is not suitable
for a pop-up or concealed turret. The availability, street index
for this weapons system is left to the discretion of the GM..

Just a reminder that I'd prefer the new-style runner comments, instead of
the old >>>>>[ ]<<<<< style ones.

It doesn't really matter to me, I'll paste them all together anyway :)
