I know this topic was covered a while ago, and I deleted the exact message covering it,
but...

PLEEEAAAASSSEE!!!! put some of the NERPS stuff out in a .TXT format!!!

Some of us (read: ME) only have internet access through our UNIX workstations at school,
which, as
cool as they are...don't support anything in WORD or RTF or anything beyond straight
TXT..unless
you want to put them in PDF which would be cool also.

And I know how easy it is to save stuff as .TXT (if using word, just select "save
as.." and
"*.TXT"), so please consider it.

thanks,

Zim

Would HTML work for you? As I understand (I still haven't checked his
page), Paolo has made HTML versions of some NERPS books.

You're kidding, right? Doing that results in a total and complete mess,
and people expect certain standards from me :)

Yeah, HTML is fine but it just takes so fraggin' long for it to get
available..I've been waiting on that NERPS "Underworld" project to be finished
on HTML for quite a while..granted I DO understand that formatting it is a
tedious undertaking.

As for the 'Saving as Text' stuff, maybe I'm thinking of something else, but
aside from some messy control characters (which after a few "Find/Replace"
sessions can take care of), isn't the bulk of the text still relatively
readable? Or am I thinking about going from WORD to WORKS and then from WORKS
to TEXT...I don't know, it's been a while since I've messed with it.

Maybe it'd just be easier to get another phone-line, and an account at home...:)

And Paolo is quite busy, I believe, so he can't spend all his time
reformatting stuff.

Well, you see, I use as little Enters as possible -- instead of putting a
blank line before each header, for example, I set the header so it puts
an automatic gap of, say, 12 points before it. Now if that were to be
saved as text, everything would be together and you'd have a very hard
time finding where the headers and the actual text blocks are. Then
there's the extended ASCII characters, like rounded quotes and stuff like
that, but you're right, those could be quickly altered to ASCII
equivalents by using find & replace a few times.
