O.k. I'm new to this list so I'll be brief. When is the next planned
Running Gear type document planned to be out? Also, same question for
Plastic Warroirs. Or are these compilements sporadic? Just wonderin'

PW and NERPS are _not_ related in any way, except that I edit both. I can
see how that can lead to confusion, so let's get it straightened out:

* NERPS books/files are written on this list, by members posting articles
to it that relate to the topic for the current NERPS book (ATM, that's
the Neo-Anarchists' Guide To The World).I then compile all that into a
book.

* PW books/files get made up of whatever I find on the net and/or what
gets sent to me, about virtually any topic. I then compile all that into a
book.

Oh I knew that they were different, I've got both, I just wanted to know
when and if they might be getting out on the net. If you edit both, (I
knew I got your name from somewhere.) Good job, I hope you keep up the
good work.

ATM Mean At the Moment, or, occasionally, Automatic Teller Machine, where
you can use a bank card to withdraw money from a savings or checking
account. But I think Gurth meant At the Moment...:]:]:]

As for the Nerps Ad... Nerps are a generic wonder product that is (more or
less) from 1st ed. Shadowrun. It never said exactly what they were, just
gave out little ads on occasion for them. Nerps could do anything. And
they outdate this list by a couple years, I belive... (I could be wrong
here, but I think I'm not)...

Anyways, this list was named after the SR Product, and stands for (As you
can see in the header of mail from here) Net Enhancements for Role-PLaying
Shadowrun.

As for Primus, well... This isn't really a discussion list for those
things, that's what ShadowRn and the [OT] header are for...:]

But Primus is not my style... I prefer classic Rock...

Like Bull said, it means At The Moment. You're pretty new to email, aren't
you?

> Who made the NERPS ad in Shadowbeat?

FASA did. NERPS, in early Shadowrun products, is a sort of generic cure
for everything, from sore feet to nuclear war (the ad in Shadowbeat is a
really good example), and the list was named after it. I think Rob Hayden
was responsible, but it was before my time (i.e. more than 3 years ago).

> Also, who likes Primus?

I've heard two or three of their songs, and I think My Name Is Mud is the
best of those... Probably whoever wrote that ad like{s|d} Primus, like
some of the artists including references to their favorite bands in the
drawings (Queensryche logos, for example).

And from his other message:

> Has anybody ever noticed(This is in America, I don't know about the
> Euro runners) that Gangsta' Rap, and Country and Western, aren't really
> the dominant music genres. When I play Shadowrun with my friends,
> usually Van Halen, NIN, or other rock bands are what we hear.

You've hit another one of my favorite rant topics :)

C&W is something that's very unlikely to get played in Europe. Gangsta rap
a lot more, mostly by people who want to be cool (and 75% of them won't
even know what the songs are actually about...).

I can't speak for anyone else, but I just put on whatever I like or
happens to be in my CD player, that can range from Simon & Garfunkel to
Lagwagon (who? take a look at www.fatwreck.com :) or anything else. If you
want to seriously discuss this, however, I suggest you take it over to
ShadowRN -- it's been a while since we had this thread :)

Are there any good ninja weapons, say nunchukus, throwing stars (probably
in a book), grappling hooks, chains, and other assorted weapon that could
be linked to the black arts? I'm trying to make an immigrant character

As to it's use by FASA, rumor has it thats NEPRS also stands for
'Nothing Ever Really Pleases Steve/Scott', these being two FASA
employee's, though i have never seen a FASA comment on this one it
was supposedly used in the FASA offices at some point in the past,
maybe still is.

Gweed, shuriken *are* covered in the Basic Black. The rest is pretty up
in the air. You can hack numbers/damage pretty easily (using clubs for
nunchukus, polearms for tetsubo, ad naus) but the more interesting
properties - disarming with a chain, and so forth, get overlooked.
(But then again, take a look at the martial arts system...)

To be honest.. Unarmed Combat usually gets replaced with a specific
style of martial arts (ncluding boxing, wrestling, and Cybercombat) in
my campaigns. Otherwise, if you don't have an implant, you concentrate
and instant +2..

.. or maybe the thought is that 'natural' is better in this case?

Gurth, I'm stealing some bandwidth for a Plug! If you don't like it, too
late :)

<plug!>
The Shadowrun Supplemental Issue #2, which is do out next month, has some
of the best martial arts rules I've ever seen! (gawd..what a horrible

Hey it also means "Azienda Tramviaria Municipale", or "Municipal
Tramway Company". That was the older name of the company who ran
public transports here in Torino. Now it is called "TT", or "Trsporti
Torinesi" which means "Turin Transports". Just thought you'd be
mighty interested :)

A good resource on Ninja weapons and such is the "Complete Ninja
Handbook", put out by our friends at T$R. Yeah, I know what you're
saying, and normally I refuse to feed my hard-earned cash into the immense
money-making machine that is T$R, but it's a really cool book, detailing
weapons, ninja spells (mostly minor cloaking and disguise spells, good for
Rat Shamans IMHO), and the ninja mindset.

It does not stand for Nothing Ever Really Pleases Steve/Scott. I don't
know what it does stand for, but Mike made an off-hand remark once that
that's not it.
