I had a thought about the next NERPS, specifically the Corporation
portion. I'd like to suggest that we not allow any first tier companies
(anything with 100+ points in Corporate Shadowfiles). We already have
Fuchi, Aries Macrotech, Yamatetsu, Aztechnology, Saeder-Krupp, and others.
There's only room foor so many worldwide mega-megacorporations.
Of course, this wouldn't outlaw large companies like
Trans-Orbital, or today's I.B.M. (which is really pretty small, since they
only do computers and such.)
Any thoughts?

I really disagree. Just because only five mega-megacorps are popularly
mentioned in SR, doesn't mean that all there is. If you ever looked
at the Fortune 500 (or even 100) you know that even at the very pinannacle
of Corp power and wealth there are at least two dozen corps jockeying
for the #1 spot (currently its mostly between GM, Toyota, IBM, Citicorp,
Mitsubishi). Thats why I think that adding a few more megacorps would
not hurt -- perhaps we should have a rigorous screening process, but I
would not close this category entirely.

Mate, these Corps as you call them are nothing compared to the MegaCorps
of the 2050's. The MCorps have incomes greater than whole major nations.
Ie Ares earns more than the UCAS. Your idea of a corp is a small subsidery
in the SR world. And as such there is only room for a few HUGE corps in the
entire world.

Wrongo A'Dues. I know exactly what corps are like in the SR world. I realize
that the corps of today are just minnows compared to the megacorps of SR,
nevertheless even a corp that has net sales of $200 billion 1994 (roughly
20 times the size of IBM today) would still be small compared to world
market of $30 trillion dollars (size of the world economy today). Even
if we say that Ares, Renraku, or Fuchi is 50 times the size of General Motors
or Exxon, then they would still have net sales of only $500 billion 1994 dollars(equal to
controlling a tenth of the US economy which is 6.3 trillion 1994
dollars today.)
If we believe that megacorps in the SR universe control a even 30% of world
production that means that they control the equivalent of $10 trillion
1994 dollars --- which means that there is room for at least 20 mega-megacorps
in the SR world. What I'm trying to say A'Dues, is that as both an avid SR
player and GM, and a trained economist I have thought long and hard on
all aspects of the megacorps (including Sales, total assets, percentage of
world production controlled, etc....)
