Poltically Correct Fixers, the new archetype for shadowrun!

Okay. Very good file. Lots of promise. Here's my suggestions:

1)Require Concentrations of the Special Skills. That will help avoid the
problem of "super-fixers" that can get anything. Also should help keep
beginning PCs from getting Ballistas and MilSpec Armor and stuff.

2)I like the "Part-Timers." In fact, they seem to be what most Contacts are.
Not every Contact is going to have access to Lasers or ultra-secret Fuchi
docs, are they? I mean, they are only (meta)human...

3)See if you can simplify the math some. It works, but SR tends to shy away
from math if possible. If you can't, no big deal, but it would be nice if
you could make it easier.

4)Provide more examples. Because it is somewhat complex, concise examples
are key. Examples, examples, examples!

5)How do you buy off the cops, now that they are watching you? You could get
them off your back by laying low for a while, and not doing anything, but a
man's gotta eat, right?

6)Not much more. Expand on it a bit, get some new names, run the
spell-checker carefully, and generally clean things up a little. I think it
will work.

Now, onto me.

My Hormone file was seen on NERPS, right? I haven't gotten any feedback, at
all. In fact, both NERPS and TK have been strangely silent the last few
days. Must be college getting out and stuff. I was doing that last
year...In any case, if you've got anything for me in regards to the Hormone
stuff, fire away!

Later,

The Great Big Extra Sharp Cheddar

I've forwarded your mail to NERPS, and this reply to it as well, so
everybody can enjoy your comments ;)

Good point. I also think that I should specifically state that fixers can
take multiple Concentrations of the Etiquette skill when they start out
(not that I think anyone ever uses the "only one Concentration per General
Skill" rule, but anyway...)

I don't know... I tend to create realistic rules (or at least, rules that
seem realistic to me :) and thsoe tend to have a bit of math in them. I
don't think I can come up with a better system that doesn't take huge
leaps (like FASA's systems generally do -- look at the cost of skillwires,
for example). What I can do is make the maths easier by making the
calculations beforehand and dumping them into a table, so all you have to
do is look up your skill levels and see how many hours a week your
character has to spend being a fixer.

Yep. Will do.

Also a thing I hadn't thought about yet. This should be incorporated,
although with the chance that bribing the cops so they look the other way
will bring down more heat later on (when Internal Affairs finds out about
your donations).

Yes, I received it and read it. I didn't see anything in it that I would
have done differently, or that I felt needed to be added to, so I didn't
make any comments. Maybe that's what everybody else thought as well...
(I don'tsuppose you remember my theory on people who agree with an
issue? :)

I liked the hormone file. I, however, am not the most indicated
person to comment on it since I have never found out where the
addiction/tolerance rules are... :) Could you all help?
Without that, it's hard to give a techincal comment... :)

The whole of page 87 of Shadowtech talks about drug use, but I think it's
just a little bit too harsh to be realistic (nobody can stay addicted for
longer than 10 weeks, because then you automatically die -- your condition
monitors get reduced by one box a week, and when they hit less than 0
boxes...)

Yeah, FASA did come down REAL hard on drugs and such. Their addiction rules
are a bunch of crap, but since that's what they use, I based my hormonal
equivalents on their rules.

Hey Gurth, do you think you could insert the page numbers into the hormone
doc, to prevent someone else from asking the same question?

I made a relatively simple fix to this, but it's not an official rule of
course...

Consider it done (if I don't forget when I'm actually editing the book :)

Can we see it? (If everyone else agrees, of course)
I have reviewed the addiction/tolerance rules and find them
intolerable! (Wild laughs - sorry, I couldn't resist)

*quick plug* It's in the Paranoid Animals of North America book, somewhere
in the back.

But for anyone who doesn't feel like downloading 2 MB to know what exactly
it is, what you do is roll a Body or Willpower test (as applicable to the
drug) against your current Addiction rating. then divide .5 by (1 + number
of successes), and subtract this from your Essence. If you don't roll any
successes, you also lose one box off your Physical and Stun Condition
Monitors.
