I've been giving a little thought to the new stuff that's being posted on NERPS.
The majority of the recent work seems to be going into the preparation of new
"chapters" to the rules eg the cyberpsi material. It strikes me that SRII is
already a little rules heavy and as such I would question the use of of these
"chapters". This is of IMHO, but there is already a large nuber of varied
concepts in SRII which seem to be under used. For example: when was the last
time you saw a ghost in SRII, or met an adept, (at least in a published
scenario), SEulpa rings take a poor and underdeveloped third place to the Mafia
and the Yakuza....the list goes on. However where I see the strengths of these
new "chapters" is not to augment the existing system, but to replace parts of
it. I don't now if this is a bit contraversial, but it would certainly be an
interesting avenue to explore......how about dropping magic in favour of Psi
powers. It would mean a little background work to change the history, but I
think it would be wo
rth it. The use of the covert psi powers would lend a darker edge to a campaign,
if used in place of the rather overt and flamboyant magic rules. Just a thought
from a GM who is a bit wary of making SRII asystem which tries to be all things
to all role-players.

PS. Despite not being sure about how to incorporate the psi rules, hats off to
the creators and contributers. These are a damn fine set of rules.

There are literally dozens of aspects of SR, and I think adding more to
it makes for a richer game.

Me, I've been trying to come up with new thoughts regarding the
little stuff that's being posted on NERPS. But I guess it all depends on
your pint of view. *grin*

Technically, the cyberpsi material is but one portion of a larger
Psionics project, which will be a wholly optional and (according to FASA)
unofficial book of supplementary rules.

[Portion about rewriting, i.e. Psi instead of Magic]

This is something that could work well as what we ex-AD&D'ers
would call a "campaign world" rules modification, but any book written to
do that wouldn't be very useful -- there'd be far too many people trying
to modify the contents of the book so that Psi and Magic can work in the
_same_ "campaign world."
