Subject: Psi: We got a problem

After reading and re-reading through the recent posts, I think we
got a problem. The problem is miscommunication/misinterpretation.
People are reading a post and immediately responding to it, without
taking the time to think the post through. This causes the original
post/idea to get twisted into something entirely different. The most
obvious case of this is CyberPsionics. I've seen it go from Rob's
original suggestion of allowing you to read something off another's deck
(I believe that was his original posting), to his updated, travel through
cyberspace *with* a jack and deck and be able to fry another decker in
the Matrix. This idea has mutated into a Psionicist running naked in the
Matrix by travelling with his aura and other ideas that just popped up.
I have no idea how you could go from decking and using Psionic powers to
Psionically projecting yourself into the Matrix, but it happened.

I suggest everyone actually *read* the posts and post's regarding
the post to try and get a grasp of what's going on before adding their
opinion. Believe me, it'll help and cut down on the pointless discussions.

Thank you, and goodnight. =)

Um, Kyle, none of the examples you mentioned are what we're
looking to create. What we want is for a psi to affect another _mind_,
using the Matrix to find that mind.

Exactly my point, mein Freund. Yet, these examples were posted
by people who mostly started off with, "I'm not going to use Psionics,
but..." I sat there for five minutes going, "What the hell is he/she
talking about" until I finally remembered the original posting they were
talking about.

And I'd say that this kind of thing is EXACTLY what we want.

Yes, we read through posts, or we should...this is true. But a lot
of what we're doing right now is brainstorming. Brainstorming is the best
action when you're trying to get a new system going.

We've brainstormed the hell out of CyberPsionics, and we're not done
yet.

It's worked pretty well, I'd say...

Yes, but there is a difference between brainstorming and twisting
around an idea or concept just for the purpose of shooting it down.
Woudln't it be better for someone to point out what was wrong with the
*original* idea, rather than point out what is wrong with their own
variation? And then perhaps offer another suggestion, although I'm not
saying that you should only post if you have a better idea. That would
be stupid, because then only I'd be posting =)

And yes, we have brainstormed quite a lot, especially on certian
topics, which is why I am trying to introduce some new/older ones like
the skills and costs which we haven't really talked about in detail.

I was just wondering if we have any sort of time table we want to
set up. I'm in no hurry. This keeps me entertained over the summer and
I've at least two and a half years more of access, so...
