I can understand your frustyration with a munchkin GM who pulled
stuff out of his hat to frustrate you. Nevertheless, I also had a bad experience
with a totally inflexible GM, who wouldn't let us be creative. For me
part of the coolness of SR is that the world is full of the unknown and
the wonderous. In my gamees I often have characters (NPCs) who don't
totally fit the rules, sometimes they are patrons, sometimes villians. Eit
either way, I use them to spice up the game. My theory of gaming is that
ideas about a game should not be limited to only the basic rules or
variants of already FASA approved materials. GMs should freely
give each other their ideas, it up to you whether to use them.
