I've been working on the text for Siberia. It's gonna be _big_. I might
scale back my initial plans for it, or it will fill a sourcebook by
itself. Actually, after this NERPS comes out, maybe I'll expand Siberia
into its own book. I dunno.

Anyway, the point: The map of Siberia is done. You can see it at:

http://pobox.com/~wordman/sixthworld/Siberia.html

It uses an embedded Freehand file, so you need to get the plug in.
Hopefully, the page gives enough instruction.

I know the map doesn't say much without knowing what all the contries
are. I'll update the page soon with a breif outline of what countries
are. I'll also post the history to the list soon (hopefully).

You could cut out the not-all-that-relevant information, and strip it down
to the bare "what you NEED to know" stuff for the NERPS article, of
course. Just don't make it too short :)

Is this map also be supposed to go into the article? If so, you might want
to make a GIF or JPG of it as well, since I know 99% certain I don't have
the plug-in, and 100% certain I'm not going to get it if I don't already
have it... Oh yeah, as a general warning to everyone thinkin of
including a map or other graphic: don't post binaries to the list!

Yes.

How about EPS? I know Word can handle it, it will be smaller, and the
resoultion won't totally suck the way a gif or jpeg would.

Whatever. I'm going to be altering the Sixth World to use Shockwave
Freehand in the future. It handles links better, looks better, prints
better, allows zooming and the file size isn't much bigger.

I've only just got Word 97, but I think I saw EPS listed among the filters
somewhere, so I guess that would be okay. (Now if only I could create
usable PS files _with_ it...)

? What's the difference in resolution? I think a jpeg is fine. On
the other hand I have no idea what EPS is <shrug>.

I'd suggest to make a GIF, JPEG, PNG or anything. Lots of people will
not, perhaps never, want or be able to use Shockwave. I'm included in
there, and I'd like to see it.

Wordman's Rule of Response:

When posting work to the Internet, you will either get negative comments
or none at all.

There are times when I would really welcome negative comments, even just to
know my stuff is being recieved.. :)

That fits very closely together with a theory I had a few years back:
people who agree with you don't normally reply.
