ShadowLore II
BioTricity
H-01
--------
As genetic engineering prepares to leap headlong into the last third of
the 21st century, scientist have successfully combined genes from
electricity producing animals and human tissue to produce bioware capable
of producing a biological electrical discharge.

A character with BioTricity glands installed gains primarily two benefits:
1) The ability to use the produced electricity offensively
2) Partial resistance to electrical attacks

In combat, a character can make an electrical attack. At higher levels,
BioTricity glands can produce not just stun damage, but also physical
damage. The physical damage must be staged away completely before any
staging can be done against the stun damage. Also note that the higher
level glands have a range, and use the Unarmed Combat (Cyber-Implant
Weaponry [BioTricity Glands]) skills. The electricity is projected most
commonly from fingertips (assuming that the glands are installed in the
arms, which is most common).

In addition, a character with BioTricity glands installed gains partial
resistance to electrical attacks (including tasers and stun batons). When
resisting an electrical attack, you may add the number of dice equal to
the level of the BioTricity glands installed.

In addition, the character is totally immune to his OWN electrical
attacks.

Level Damage Range Price Body
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Level 1 6S (stun) Touch 5,000 .10
Level 2 8S (stun) Touch 10,000 .15
Level 3 10S (stun)+4M Five feet 25,000 .25
Level 4 12S (stun)+8M Fifteen Feet 45,000 .40

I'd say raise the Price (5k, 15k, 40k, and 70k) and body (1., .15, .35,
.7), change the ranges (L3 still Touch and L4 5-10 ft). Also, might want
to put something in there about recharge rates and number of shots, etc.

Price: Agreed
Body: I'll up them a little bit
Recharge: I thought about it, but I decided it would be just more
paperwork to keep track of and more headache than it's
worth. The stun baton and shock glove don't need to
recharge for example.
No. Shot: Why? It works naturally, not on batteries.

But it does use energy.

Why not have it make the user eat more food after use, or something?
It tires him out, needing more sleep? The energy has to come from somewhere...

How about some ShadowBabble to this effect. Sort of "There's somethign

Actually, use the example from the Suprathyroid gland, or Symbiotes -
just increase the food intake. This can represent the fact that the
energy is always there, being produced, but "leaking away" at a very slow
rate - thus the body has to consume more food to keep this up.

Gee - if the character was starving, or in very poor shape, the use of
the BirTricity glands could kill him... <hmmmm>

I'd say this would be good, but I considered the hard-and-fast
rules for them to be pretty well insane...

Probably, it would be better just to give some guidelines or
something. Makes a lot more sense, and it's a lot more fun, too...

This would go along with the recharge rate. A certain number of shots
could be stockpiled which, when expended would recharge at a certain rate
(shots per unit of time).

Example: Ernie the Electrician has L4 Biotricity Glands. He can
stockpile three shots and recharges at 1 shot per 5 rounds. He gets
jumped by some 'Raku guards. In the first round he shoots one guard.
The next round he will start recharging and will recoup the expended
energy by round six. He can use his two remaining shots anytime between
now and round six when he will have three stockpiled shots.

I agree it's a little more math and one more thing to keep track of. I'm
of the opinion of putting it in and letting the GM be able to ignore it.

IMHO, it shoudl only mess with your metabolism if you actually USE it.
If it is just sitting there, why would you need more food? A
superthyroid, on the other hand, is always working, thus the increased
appitite.

Were you making a rules recommendation here or being melodramatic :-)

This is just standard bioware failure.

Both :) actually though, I really do think that they would react badly to
wired reflexes and skill wires, possibly even boosteds.

Yup - but its shadow rumor, which means take it as truth or with a grain of
salt :)

I just figured that this one need some comments like this, they seem to go along
nicely. IF you want - you can use them in the submission for NERPS

Normally, I'd say these would react with ANY electricity-using cyber.
But, you know what? I dont' wnat to deal with it and I don't think that
this is a big enough item to start writing pages and pages of
restrictions and problems. Assume that as part of the install is some
kind of biological insulator and be done with it. Otherwise we'll be
here for months aguring for every little thing :-)

Ahh, I see, what you'r saying is that you are trying to make the players
PARANOID. You just went up a notch on the GM koolness scale :-)
