Believe it or not, but I tried to reverse engineer the Mind Link spell myself.
I think the Drain code was (F/2)M. However looking into my Grimoire one more
time I found:
Target Level
New Sense D Telepathy
Deep Mind Interaction +2 +1 Read description on page 122
Sustained Spell +1
Detection Spell -1
Limited Range -1
Very Restricted target -1 One specific individual
Voluntary Subject Required -1 Read description on page 123
Total +2 M

Having finally discovered why the drain code of Mindlink (individual) is
[(F/2)+2]M, I can now tell you that the proper drain code for Telepathic
Chat is [(F/2)+1]D:
Target Level
New Sense D Telepathy
Deep Mind Interaction +2 +1 Transfer thoughts
Sustained Spell +1
Detection Spell -1
Extended Range -1
Voluntary Subject Required -1
Total +1 D

Notes for Mindlink (Individual) are that the spell is voluntary so the second
paragraph about forcing contact is WRONG!!!!!! and should be deleted and the
spell has Very Restricted Target: Individual, not restricted target.

Yeah, I know that's where they came up with the Drain Code for MindLink
(individual), but I don't agree with it. The main thing is that MindLink
and Chat should be surface mind interaction, not deep (deep is Mind Probe
and such). Technically, the way MindLink is written there is an IMMENSE
transfer of information between the two individuals. Chat was designed to
be the same as talking to someone (except there is nothing audible). I
guess, technically, my drain codes on Chat and MindLink are "house" rules
even though they make alot more sense than FASAa...
