check out _shadowrun_ (2nd ed) page 128, column 2, paragraph 4.
paraphrasing:

if the spell forces is greater than the caster's magic rating,
the drains is physical instead of stun. the drain is still
resisted with willpower.

so for a force 6 mind probe, you're looking at 5d physical drain
resisted with whatever willpower you've got.
