Interesting idea, Will, but why is this needed? Is it really
worth the extra trouble?

We've all agreed that to some extent PSIs get there powers
genetically, but the PSI must, IMHO, have a place to focus his mind in
order for him/her to gain more powers. W/out such a place you are
allowing the psi to much leeway while focusing. W/out a "Study", we give
the psi the option of just going into an alley for a while, meditating
and coming out the ability turn your mind to mush.
In game balance, I feel such a place should be needed. Deckers need
a workshop, mages need a libraryry, shamans need a lodge, street docs
need a clinic ( of some sort). Why WOULDN'T a PSI need some place for
him/her to work?

Well, it may be a local rules twist, but usually all we've got in
the various SR campaigns that I've played are a large vehicle (often a
van) and at least one High or Luxury Lifestyle apartment, owned by
whoever bought that lifestyle.
In one campaign, we even took over somebody's store!

What I'm trying to say is, we don't really have a specific
workshop, temple, whatever for each person -- just like freelancers in
real life. For example, I do some freelance video work -- I don't have a
workshop, though I could if I really wanted to. What I do have is
assorted equipment scattered around my bedroom and the basement.
I guess I usually play characters enough like myself that they
won't be a whole lot more organized (on the surface) than I am.
