"That priestess, there-- very nice, superlative looks even for one of
the Holy Ones. She turned in, and although she could clearly see him, she
almost walked over him. Only the odor of the cigar and a last-minute "Whoa,
there!" from the captain kept her from taking a spill. She started, staring at
him, obviously unnerved, and seemed about to say something, but then thought
better of it and walked around him into the main building.

Empaths were always highly directional. Many people are pretty much unnoticed
by others, and, with an empath, it was inconcievable that even if her mind was
a million light-years away, her Talent wouldn't immediately tell her that
someone was there. Nothing could block an empath, not even another empath.
Therefore, to her, Chin simply had not existed. Perhaps she would be a bit
more observant and not so lazy in the future. Certainly she would also go a
