I use a Windows mailer (PC Eudora -- hopefully not much longer, BTW) and a
proportional font (system.ttf), and have put the message width at 80
characters. It automatically wraps the words when I read the end of the
message window, but that is more than 80 chars. Still when it gets sent out
it's all nicely 80 characters wide I think.
