I would also assume that Australia would NOT have gone the way of the
CalFree govt and allowed an Australian SanFran to happen. I don't think
I'm falling into the trap of making my country better than all the rest,
but I can't see Australia, the land of the "Little Battler", accepting
that. Australia traditionally has a much more left-wing/socialist ethos
than the US and I think that would prevent the almighty dollar from
having final say over *all* of our politics. While I quite see that
Australia is going to have a megacorp presence in the same way every
other nation does, it fits our plans to have Australia's governing being
slightly more independent of the megacorps than many others. Australia
would, for example, probably have granted corps extraterritoriality very
late in the piece. (Witness, for the Aussies, the MFP debacle...)
