Some old SR (Mostly Paul's with maybe some from Tom that I
recall) designer comments on world status:

<Australia> Most of the population is relegated to living on
the coast. When the Magic came back there were not enough
aborigines left who knew the dream time, so most of the Australian
interior is in a state of chaos, in some respects like the Mojave
Desert from Calfree but much worse.

<Tibet> Walled off by the Buddhists their (reference prayer
wheels and Operation Chaos[?] by Poul Anderson).

<Phillipines> Done in part by a Robert Hermedes in Scrawls
from the Sprawls. And definitely not conquered by Japan (although
I don't necessarily agree with them getting a megacorp either). I'd
go for an attempt, but after the threat of a 'Ghost Dance' on those
nice active Japanese volcanoes, they probably had second thoughts.

P.S. There are probably some other remarks I could dig up if people
are interested.
