Meine Kameraden:

I have been the assailed with a number of bewildered inquiries as to
the reasoning and motivation behind my deletion of various members of this
list. Although this variety of phenomena is covered in the ShadowRun FAQ
document, I shall take it upon myself to explain it:

Unless otherwise indicated, the execution of a subscription is due to
my receipt of an error message from the Listserv regarding undelivered or
undeliverable mail messages. This can be caused by a couple factors, e.g.
quota overflow, or your account otherwise being considered "unavailable"
(probably caused by faulty or overloaded Internet/Bitnet connections). If the
particular account which is the cause of the problem is not removed from the
list, the situation can result in a chronic problem of mail being "bounced" to
both my and Herr Hayden's account. Naturally, neither he nor I enjoy this.

Furthermore, there is the possibility if not attended to in a timely
manner, the error may accidentally be reported to the list, which initiates a
vicious circle of bouncing mail, i.e. the error message is dispatched to all
subscribers, including the problematic account.

If a deletion is intended to be a punitive action -- of which I have
performed only TWO since my assuming of this office -- I shall warn the
offending account(s) of their behavior and counsel them to modify it previous
to my resorting to any such measures. If my suggestions are not observed, the
account's subscription shall be dispatched. In this eventuality, I shall once
again inform the account's owner and identify the unacceptable activity which
has lead to their removal. Rest assured that if you are recipient of notice of
your deletion it is due to no authoritative caprice upon my part.

Therefore, if you are told by the listserver that your account has been
summarily executed by my hand, and I have offered no indication of this being
an disciplinary action, assume that your account was -- for whatever reason --
not receiving mail, which caused the message to be bounced to both Herr Hayden
and me. Then it would be the case that I deleted you in an effort to prevent
any annoying difficulties with bouncing mail messages.

I have been the assailed with a number of bewildered inquiries as to
the reasoning and motivation behind my deletion of various members of this
list. Although this variety of phenomena is covered in the ShadowRun FAQ
document -- 'tis without question the Single Most Frequently Asked Question
which I encounter -- I shall take it upon myself to explain it:

UNLESS OTHERWISE INDICATED, the execution of a subscription is due
to my receipt of an error message from the Listserv regarding undelivered or
undeliverable mail messages. Such a situation can find its genesis in a
couple factors, e.g., quota overflow or your account otherwise being
considered "unavailable" (probably brought about by faulty/overloaded/down
Internet/Bitnet connections).

If the particular subscription which proves the cause of the
difficulty is not removed from the list's manifest in a timely manner,
such an address can generate tremendous quantities of error messages in a
gallingly short period of time -- all of which I receive. Naturally, I do
not particularly enjoy this.

Furthermore, there is the possibility if not attended to in a timely
manner, the error may accidentally be reported to the list, which initiates a
vicious circle of bouncing mail, i.e. the error message is dispatched to all
subscribers, including the problematic account.

If a deletion is intended to be a PUNITIVE action -- of which I have
performed only THREE since my assuming of this office -- I shall warn the
offending account(s) of their behavior and counsel them to modify it previous
to my resorting to any such measures.

Therefore, if you are informed by the listserver that your
subscription has been summarily executed by my hand, and I have offered no
indication of this being an disciplinary action, assume that your account was
-- for whatever reason -- not receiving mail, which caused the message to be
bounced to my account. Then it would be the case that I deleted you in an
effort to prevent any annoying difficulties with bouncing mail messages.
