Remeber, HEARN runs DOZENS of mailing lists, not just our four. In
addition, the machine also does other stuff too.
Mailing lists run at a low priority, processing stuff when there are some
spare CPUs lying around. In addition, mail is sent 'bulk', meaning that
it has a very low priority on the network bandwidth. You are notcing a
greater amount of lag because there is a traffic jam on the info
superhighway, and it is growing exponentially.
I am looking into setting up a peer to the lists on this side of the
pond. This will be a North-America-based machine that will work in
tangent with HEARN to decrease overall load (things get processed and
distributed seperately, but end up in the same log. The ADND-L list has
three peers for its 700 subscribers) . But this is a very low priority
right now, and I doubt anything will happen before the summer.
