Here's whole bunch of comments on Characterization:

> Things people should avoid on Shadowtk:
>
> Spikebabies (one out of three shadowtk elves are spikebabys)
> Fourth World characters or relatives (one out of four shadowtk elves is/has)
> Vampires (we had a rash of them, but now there is only one or two)
> Superhot deckers (who do thinks like carry black utilities)
> Ultrapower characters (they are not that fun to be around)

Yes Wyrm, I did neglect to put in dragons, but mostly this was a satircal
look at just how rediculous the characters on Shadowtk were becoming. Why is
it that everybody thinks their characters must be "exotic" to be interesting?

On the subject of Fifth World Spikebaby elves. To put it simply, if they could
not live within a human lifespan until the Awakening, they would die a human
and never know they were elves. All of FASA's spikebabies lived until the
Awakening on their own merits. All elves with longer lifespans are Fourth
World Elves of incredible power (Harliquin, Ehran the Scribe).

Angliss, chill out. I and many others do read your post. They can be quite
enjoyable. For example, I hate the character of Collussus because Cybrogs of
that nature do not exist in Shadowrun. I did however greatly enjoy the post
of the Wyrm Hunt form his point of view. The writing was excellent.

Also Brain, I don't know what I did to insult you so. All the problems I've
had with you are the same ones other people had. As for my rules qouting,
I do believe the FAQ says (paraphased) "Stay within the boundries of the
published SR rules." I guess your problem is you want a blank check to write
what you want while I want a world with some rules. Lastly, I don't dislike
you, I dislike your choice of characters.

Twist, both Cerise and Princess are non-spikebaby elves. Of course they are
mages...

Yes, Solitaire has gotton off pretty easy for breaking into and purging the
Corporate Court records. Of course this means that the Court will have to go
pull out the optical chips and upload the data back into the system. You don't
seriously believe that they don't have at least 10 backups of everything, do
you?

Roberson brings up stats for Shadowtk characters. They are not necessary, but
they can be useful for several different reasons:

1) So you know what your character can do (which spells do I have).
2) So you can tell if you character is munchkin (gee 2000 Karma! :).
3) In case you what someone who you are working with on a storyline to have an
idea of what your character can do (Powerhouse is one mean chummer).

Dan, don't blame yourself for the Fourth World stuff. It's not one person doing
something that is bad, it's the apparent band wagon mentality that develops
when people decide to toss caution and common sense to the wind.

As for Nightfox, he didn't seem that powerful on the Kurgan Hunt. As for nearly
requcing Roxey single handedly, you lost control dude.

Seraphy is cool. Why you ask? Because he's the equivalent to the master in
the martial arts films. He's really powerful, but all he does is talk and train
the hero. He never fights!

Dark Elf rules the Matrix!!!!!

I remember when the Big Three were the scourge of the Shadow World.

As long as i know voodo magic, Artificial Inteligence, Borgs are not part of
the published SR Rules (altough i think there are some SR novels that mention s
omething about Borgs (or something like them in "Never Thrust an Elf"), Artif.
Int. (I THINK that in "Choose your Enemies ...", Dodger finds something at
Renraku (?) that could be an Art. Int. . As to Voodo, it is just another way
of doing magic ( FASA should make another SourceBook with MORE magic :) . I fo
r exemple need rules for Wicca magic for my Portugal Sourcebook. )

Spiral ( my character ) is also a non-spikebaby elf (OK... He's a mage too...
I never played any other thing in SR ( except an elven decker. It was the 1st
time i was playing a RPG and i liked the hair of the archetype... :) )
