I have been noticing it more and more lately that people trying to reply
to my messages from the list have been sending their replies to me
directly, unknowingly. I don't know what is causing this because I have
been running the same mailer (Pine) on the same cluster (UNIX-based) since
before the problem manifested itself. I checked through all of my
settings and saw nothing that would cause this problem.

It may be a problem with the new list processor, or it may be due to the
mailers that other people are using, or maybe the problem is with me and I
don't know how to fix it. Any suggestions from people who know?

I guess this will also serve as a warning to everybody else: check the
addresses of your replies carefully.

The list processor hasn't changed in the past couple of years. That's
really weird. Did the version of Pine that you're using get changed on
the cluster of machines recently? I'm using Pine as well, and not seeing
the "Reply-to overrides list" problem.

That is a possiblity. It was a few months ago that the cluster I email
from updated pine to the latest edition. On the other hand, I don't
understand why the original mailer can be at fault because isn't it the
listprocessor's job to add the Reply To: field before it send out the
mail?

If your mailer specifies a Reply-To: field, the listserver will accept it:

So something in your mailer must be doing it. Try poking around your Pine
config files (.pinerc or something like that).

In some instances a user's Reply-To field may override the list's.
I'm not sure what the circumstances are that cause this because I
haven't really looked into it.

You _have_ set your Reply-To field, which the listserv doesn't overwrite if it's not
empty. As we can see lately, most people don't check for the adresses they
reply to (as the replies to S-TK show) and probably can assume it's the same
problem there, as most mailers by default will choose the Reply-To field for
responses (might be related to the fact this field was meant for that purpose :-)

I agree: Some more checking might help.

Test failure.... You're Reply To: field is blank.

Very interesting, since Justin uses the same cluster that I do.

Doubly interesting since when I get my message back, it has the Reply To:
field filled in by listproc to be:

ShadowTk Plot and Administrative Discussion <PLOTD@********.ITRIBE.NET>

Strange.
