Brosing through the unread mails I came across this from Justin Fang

>>>>>[Me under a misapprehension, Paraquat? Maybe; I haven't been
following
this thing very closely because frankly most of the messages bored me
stiff.
<snip>

Did anyone else notice anything strange about the post? It came to me
as an include with

"unsupported char-set roman8"
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=X-roman8

attached to it.

I've not noticed this from any of Justin's messages before, and would
like to know if anyone else had the same thing. If not, it's a problem
with the beta of this mailer (the old one dealt with Justin's posts
quite happily)

Thanks in advance.

I know what that is; the cluster of computers I send email from aren't all
configured identically, and the one I was using that day must have had some
quirk in its setup. I've made an adjustment to my mailer which should keep
it from happening again (I hope...)

You installed a beta of Windows 98?!? Forget the whole Paraquat mess,
*that* has got to be the craziest thing i've heard here in months... :)

It didn't occur with this post, so I'll assume that it was at your end,
though seeing as nobody else commented on seeing it on Shadowtk, I am
still going to investigate from my end. Like I said, I've not seen it
before.

Yeah, I know - sorry.

Having said that though, It's rock solid. I beta tested Win95, (you
think it's unstable _now_) <g> in comparison Win98, is beautiful. Well
so far at least... :)

Seriously though, I do have a fairly powerful computer (required), and
as a technician and network engineer I have an advantage over many.
Installing the mass of strange stuff that came with the Beta is not
advisable for the faint of heart, but I'm impressed so far, it's _far_
more stable than the last one, and has a few very nice features (stuff
that should have been standard from day one - but there you go)

It's getting more and more "Mac" like all the time <g> The really nice
thing was that it found _all_ my hardware without any bullying, beating
or cursing, (and as Paul will verify - I've got a "few" toys attached)

The thing that most users will find a life saver is that Win98 can
detect and rebuild a corrupt system registry (the worst nightmare for a
Windows user) /without/ user input. I deliberately broke it earlier
this evening, and here I am, back again :)

Aw c'mon, don't all sigh at once. <g>
