Why not have Monica (A plot that occured before I got on this board, so
excuse me if this does not fit her/its normal operating procedure) do
something along the lines of a "Snow Crash" virus like in Neal Stephenson's
book of the same name. Have the virus kick butt on the worlds data stores
and fry the brains of the computer operators, thus reducing the world to
a chaotic mess that Monica and her Robo friends can then control. Monica's
scheme (in this proposal anyway) would leave her and her constructs as the
only entities capable of running the world's computers, and that means you
win. Just a thought.

Ready to suffer the sting of your flames and arrows,

That book was real good....but I don;t know if it quite fits into a Shadowrun
setting....after all, a "linguistic hacker" is pretty far-fetched idea. Maybe
a modification.....

Hmm, seems a little too much for MONICA. Nobody will want MONICA to run
their systems.

Also probably a little too complicated for ShadowTK

As a comment to your story about your MONICA plot... and other people may make
this comment as well so don't flame me about it please... if I reacll
correctly... that was how she tried taking over the first time... made lots of
'tentacle' frames and ate op lots of computing power and fried a lot of
decker's minds... so that idea has already been done... sorry... I wasn't here
for it, but I have been reading the logs (I haven't worked up to her second
attempt at control yet... still working on it...).

Anyway, that's my opinion... we're looking for something a little new...
nothing personal... but its been done.

Josh.

Actually, MONICA's first attack wasn't designed INITIALLY to take over
anything. She was released into the matrix with orders to kill RUFUS.
Since tracking down a single rogue piece of code is difficult at best,
she proceeded to do a systematic seach by securing each node she could
find, little by little boxing RUFUS in until a confrontation was forced.
The problem was that once she had the power, she got greedy and didn't
want to give it back. This is when she killed Lincoln Howe and became
non-machine-based.

Her second time, her assault was Real World based. Using an automated
manufacturing plant, she built several human-like robots and went on a
rampage of destruction, killing a Fuchi VP and kidnapping Joseph
Yoshida. It was this point that we discovered Leon Meyers, who worked
for Vulcan Robotics, lending the evil one spare CPU cycles.

MONICA's plans are based on crippling the real world enough that she can
slide into a secure power position that can indeffinately be defended
against. Ideas?
