Meine Kamaraden:

It is indeed an honor and a privilege to be speaking to you as your
recently appointed assistant to the Fearless Leader, a post which has only been
occupied by one other individual, namely, the much beloved and sorely missed
Vincent Esposito, also known as Dark Elf.

As to the title of my office, in the absence of anything particularly
"catchy," I believe that any modification of my present handle, Doctor Doom, is
unnecessary. Although perhaps the quip about the Fearless Leader's right-hand
man, "Lefty", is somewhat apropos, as I am left-handed.

It is my purpose to endeavor to serve the interests and enforce the
rules and regulations of this list with a firm yet fair, energetic but
equitable hand. Further, I wish to express my appreciation to Herr Hayden for
his magnanimous bestowal of this honor upon my person and to those who extended
their congratulations to me upon my appointment. "I shall endeavor to function
adequately," to quote Lieutenant Commander Data.

[ At least I am not in a position in which I have to contend with wildly
unrealistic campaign promises! ]
