As one of the administrators of the Shadowrun Discussion lists, I am
greatly concerned about recent actions taken by the gaming company TSR
with regards to demands for removal from the net any item it views as
remotely related to AD&D, D&D or any other game it owns or thinks it
owns.

Because the subsequent conversation covers not only TSR products, I felt
that a mailing list where all concerned could discuss the problems and
worries would be productive.

To this end, I have created a mailing list called 'rpg-copyright'. It has
an open subscription policy and daily logs of discussion will be available
via automatic file server.

To join this mailing list, send a message to:
majordomo@******.mankato.msus.edu

Put the words 'subscribe rpg-copyright' in the body of your message. You
DO NOT need to put your real name in the subscribe command.

For a list of other commands available, send the command 'help' to the
majordomo address.

I am including a copy of the introduction file that is sent to all new
subscribers.

-----------------------------

This mailing list is to discuss the state of the role-playing industry
with regard to the copyright concernes raised my T$R Inc.

Please note that much of the discussion contained within is speculative
and consultation with a good copyright lawyer should be considered prior
to any legal action (including defending yourself :-)

While for the most part our concern is with T$R, other gaming companies
also need to have their rules made known and considered, especially with
regards to discussion lists, fictional writings, and net.books.

For the sake of discussion, please keep the flaming to a low-simmer.
There may be a lot of T$R bashing, and given recent events this is to be
expected, but I think it's easier to show your disgust by simply calling
them T$R, we will all get the picture :-)

------------------------------------------------------

If you have any questions or comments, please let me know.

Disclaimer

These messages were posted a long time ago on a mailing list far, far away. The copyright to their contents probably lies with the original authors of the individual messages, but since they were published in an electronic forum that anyone could subscribe to, and the logs were available to subscribers and most likely non-subscribers as well, it's felt that re-publishing them here is a kind of public service.
