Not that I'm aware of. I have heard quite a bit of negative sentiment toward
the Invae, most of complaining about the "ravening mindless monsters" asepct.
I think I'm happier with slightly more subtle, intelligent antagonists, but
that's just me.

Yes, there is a Bug City plot currently in the works.

Granted, *very slowly* in the works... but in the works nonetheless!
