Right, I offered to do this sometime ago, and with

a) The resurgence of interest in S-tk
b) The new host being in the process of going up
c) Me having to debug a *really* *REALLY* boring bit of code....

I'd like to get on with it.

The general plan, which seemed to have a vaguely supportive consensus
behind it was to:

Have two lists - a 'live' list and, for now, a 'MIA' list - anyone who's appeared
in the archives over the last year goes automatically into the live list. Anyone
else gets an email from me asking if they still want the char. Chars with a
background go into the MIA list, and can be restored to the live list if
requested. Obvious dross ("Name: Munchkin. Background: Head of Fuchi IntSec.
Weapon: PAC with milspec laser option. by someone@***.com") may be, er,
lost in the process. In six months, or a year or whatever, the MIA list is deleted.

The live list, or, the list as it will become, can of course be added to by everyone...

Comments?

And, assuming all is well with this, Mark, could I have a copy of the DB?

Cheers,

James.

I don't like the idea of the MIA list being deleted, per se. I'd prefer
"Archived". Somebody might find it useful some day (Like when reading old
logs, for NPC ideas, to find a long dead character to mention for some
reason or another, etc..)

Active, MIA, Archived would work for me. The idea of throwing away data
scares me. :)

OK, Paolo expressed this concern too.....How about then, having a MIA list, but simply
never delete it.....

Any further comments/objections?

James.

Wanted to politely ask where the cast listing was in its creation process?

If you cant get it done, please pass it off to me and I will
allocate time to getting something at least passable out to the list.

About 98.99% of the characters in the cast listing seem to be dormant...
Maybe they could be put in a different file?

That's possible. It would require every TK member to send me a list
of currently active characters that they control. (There are ~380
characters in the cast list, so I don't really want to go through
them all if there is a better way..)

What does everyone else think about seperating the cast list? I'm
pretty indifferent to it, really...

Well, I do think it needs some severe updating, personally, but as I'm
going to send totally revamped character descriptions about my current,
and my now deceased characters, to Mark anyway, that option seems
reasonable to me.

Heh. Yeah. Maybe some updating could be done if this is something we are
going to receive monthly, like??

I personally have some write-ups to include in it. I was surpried Goku got
in at all... Need to add, lessee... Marksanspensah, Brocken Bone, Enrique
Vargas (yup, him), Disbeliever and Gutsys, though I'll probably just do
one or two...

Just wade in wih an ediorial monoknife and slash away ;)

Same for mine - they have been updated once (I think) since we created the Cast
list 2 years ago.

The Entry for CRUSH is old - He's now 3.8m and 408 kg (12'7" and 900 lb)
He's one big daddy.

Since most of these people aren't on the list anymore, wouldn't
it be easiest to check active users against their characters
and put everyone else into a Prime-Runners file?

Did anyone else find that the third section of the Cast List was missing
characters? It only contained from Lotus Mage to Otomo, Kaneda(sp?). Only
the first line of Kaneda's entry was there as well.
That's right Stefan, your character got cut up, by at least my mailer...:)

Damn, beat me to it. Count this as a second for that option.
