Ok, this is what I have gotten from Burning Bright.

The Containment Zone is surrounded by walls and barricades. The UCAS
military is using water cannons, smaller calabre weaponry, and concussion
grenades to keep civilians from breaching the barricades, but are pulling
out the big toys to take down the bugs whenever they are seen. The military
are sending in choppers, aided with elementals, to hunt the bugs, and most
of these choppers and elementals die. The military ARE killing people who
might have the ability to break through the barricades, usually orks and
trolls. Bugs are sweeping down and literally carrying off random people to
become interned(or were, before the nuke went off) and become more bugs.
The military has access to weapons, on the barricades, that will DESTROY
tanks and other highly armored vehicles.

So, the chance that anyone getting in and then out again, especially after
Quickling's hit, is so close to zero as to be non-existant.

Now, for the ability to get "passes." None of your characters would have the
correct contacts. Sorr, but Buzz is ex-CIA, and this was an FBI matter. The
main character in Burning Bright knew a guy in the FBI-Paranormal Investigation
dept and got NOTHING. Ex-Green Beret wouldn't help either. Unless he knew
the generals or whoever the frag was in charge of the whole thing, he wouldn't
be getting in unless he was re-activated as a soldier again, and then he'd be
under orders and probably sent in in one of the choppers that don't survive
nine times out of ten. And S-S Rangers would probably get laughed at, seeing
as this is a UCAS matter, and the only other people who supposedly know about
it are the TT and TNO elves, Ares Macrotech(and probably the other megas), and
Lofwyr, who offers to take care of the problem in a way that makes a nuke look
kind. Without a god's help, no-one is getting into that area easily, and
certainly not with "passes."

And finally, notice how there are no more news releases now? It is highly
unlikely that the military would be able to shut the initial ones down, but
martial law and the "National Security" lable allow one hell of a lot of
latitude. And I hate to say it, but the Gulf War was a perfect example of what
I mean. We, as Americans, saw NOTHING that the military didn't want us to see,
nor did we know anything that they didn't want us to know. Our troops got
gassed, Tom, and we didn't know about it until at least 6 months later. I just
found out about it 4 months ago myself. Israeli's also got gassed. Our
renouned Patriot missiles had a MUCH lower sucess rate than originally stated,
and the Israeli's claim that it was almost 0%, sometimes even adding to the
devastation when Patriot's failed to explode and then detonated on impact
coming down again. And were you aware that a good number of our troops have
symptoms of a disease that looks remarkably like radiation sickness? From our
own DU ammo?

When push comes to shove, the military OWNS the press. And I'd say that push
came to shove in Chicago, in 2055, a long time ago.

Brian
