I'm afraid this isn't going to make everyone happy, but I'm going to rule
in favor of Erik's position, and make him the official coordinator of
information dispersement on the Corp War/BitB timeline. As long as he
doesn't post anything more revealing than the press clipping type of thing
like he did today, I don't see any problems.

This is one of the (rare) cases where we can stay pretty well up-to-date
with FASA, and I think we should jump at the chance.

How about this as a compromise: Prior to any postings about the BitB
storyline, Erik will post a brief synopsis of what he will be saying
to Plot-D so we can air any of the more vehement objections ahead of
time. Sound fair?

Where there are "press clippings" those will suffice. For several other
items, I will do little more than post what is in the official timeline.

For example, the next item that would appear would be the apparent suicide
of a Mitsuhama Coporate Court representative. Not huge news, and given
Brian's recent Maxim post, it has a certain amount of importance. but it
would only get something along the lines of "Hey, you heard some Corp Court
guy got killed? Anybody know who did it?" and let the list speculate or
not from there.

To reiterate, *nothing* from the "Hooks" or "Adventures" will be
posted;
the Dark Stranger won't be reclaiming that chess piece for Damien Knight or
anything.

BUT some GM info may be presented as "rumor" or to help flesh out an item
that is nothing more than a sentence in the timeline. This *WILL* be kept
to an absolute minimum.

This is why I'm so...vehement...about this. I can remember the Burning
Bright debacle. This is the first chance that I can recall that we can
actually stay within the FASA time line.

And since I would have to guess that the third edition of Shadowrun, due in
August/September, will include the changes presented by BitB (why wouldn't
it?), it is important that we don't delay those changes ourselves.

Fine with me.

I'll repost it again later, but to start this, on May 16, Dosan Aburakoji,
one of Mitsuhama's Corporate Court representatives, commits suicide in his
Kyoto home. That's all that's given on this news item. But I fully expect
Velli and Maxim to react to this news when it comes out. I don't really
expect anything more than that.

BTW, the more I read about this, the less I like to refer to it as a Corp
War. I don't think I'm giving anything away by stating there really is no
war, there is no Omega Order, there aren't mobilized armies. It's really
just a period of about 6 to 9 months of extreme shadow activity and
corporate manuevering. It's about as nasty as things can get without
outright war, but it's not war.

Anyway...

Well, not to pre-judge FASA in this, but the Firefront saga being
released from RTG started with political manoeuvring, then two corps
virtually went to war, gradually dragging all the others, the
edgerunners and a whole pile of other stuff in with them. So far it
looks like it's going to be pretty terminal for the CP world. Hopefully
FASA won't try to imitate this series of releases and will wonder off
happily in their own direction.
